Ryobi RPT4545M Articulating Telescopic Pole Hedge Trimmer 450mm

Living on the top edge of an old quarry with a hedge planted at the base presents a problem when trimming the top which is a metre away and 2 metres deep. I pondered electric or 2 stroke. Electric because it is lighter, 2 stroke which is heavier but is a more balanced layout with the motor balancing the cutter. I chose electric, being 70 I figured I could take my time. Having used it I think I should have bought the 2 stroke. The electric RPT 4545M is really designed to be held vertical (Ryobi do sell the RPT4545E which has a more supportive harness with a cup in which to place the handle). The electric motor at 2.4 metres from the handle is really difficult to hold and control if held horizontal, which is what I need. The 2 stroke would have been more balanced, and more powerful. Sorry for the long winded explanation but I hope it's useful to anyone. It's a good, well made bit of kit but not the right choice on my part.

An excellent piece of equipment which tackled my 2 metre deep laurel hedge no problem. The head is a little heavy (especially when extended) and will only allow short periods of full length pruning at a time until the shoulders give in. However, I would definitely recommend this hedge trimmer especially for those with deep shrubbery.

Good reach which is adjustable with the extra section. Cut my hedges in half the time. A good buy

Slight difficulties in placing the order online. However, after phoning the company direct, I received a prompt, professional and helpful response. My order was taken and processed efficiently, followed by eMail acknowledgement and despatch/ delivery updates. My item was received exactly as promised by the despatch advices. My Pole Hedge Trimmer was competitively priced, well packaged and complete, all as per the adverting. It took no time at all to assemble and start using. The item is, clearly, not for commercial use, but I am very pleased with the results I have achieved so far. It can become a little heavy, but the key is to have patience, pace yourself and just do a bit at a time. I am 68, so ‘slowing down a bit’. All in all, both dealing with the company and the product itself have exceeded my expectations, I would not hesitate to recommend both and will certainly use the company again in the future.

Certainly a nice bit of kit, and does make cutting high hedges easier (which I have struggled with for a long time). Relatively quiet in operation, unlike its petrol driven brothers. I found tooled up to be competitive and very quick to deliver - most impressed, will use again. Trevor T
