Edging Irons

What you need to know about Edging Irons

Edging Irons are used for ensuring straight lawn borders. A well edged lawn provides a tidy, aesthetically pleasing look to a garden, & also helps to simplify lawn maintenance tasks such as mowing. Moreover, if your lawn is bordered by flower beds or growing patches, using an Edging Iron will help to prevent soil & mulch from getting onto the lawn.

An Edging Iron consists of a long shaft, attached to a wide, half moon shaped cutting blade. Edging Iron blades are sharper than those found on Spades, but are also thinner & less solidly attached, so are not suitable for heavy duty digging tasks. The curved blade of an Edging Iron allows it to be wiggled from side to side along the lawn border to assist with cutting.

If a low maintenance Edging Iron is a priority for you, look for one with a Stainless Steel blade. On the other hand, if you think a stronger material is of greater importantance, look for an Edging Iron with a Carbon Steel blade. Alternatively, you can use a Grass Trimmer to edge a lawn quickly.
