What you need to know about Lawn & Salt Spreaders
Lawn & Salt Spreaders are small wheelbarrows capable of distributing seeds, salt, sand, lime or fertilizer around a given area. They come in two types. Fitted with fins, a rotating disk beneath the base of a Broadcast Spreader
's hopper throws the spreading material outwards, evenly covering the area around the spreader. For larger lawns, or those in which an even spread is a necessity, Broadcast Hoppers will be the better option. More inexpensive varieties, known as Drop Spreaders
, are composed of a rectangular hopper positioned laterally along the wheel shaft. Running alongside the revolving cylinder of the shaft is an aperture which allows material to be deposited onto the lawn in a continuous line. The spread area is equivalent to the width of the hopper, & is smaller than that provided by Broadcast Spreaders. Nevertheless, this allows for more accurate control, and may be preferred for narrow, cluttered gardens. Both types of spreader are available in hand pushed models, or tow-behind varieties, for attachment to the rear of a vehicle. Both types can also come with included 'Feed Control', allowing the rate of spread to be varied.
