What you need to know about Shrub Shears
Shrub Shears are similar to Hedge Trimmers, except that they are small enough to be carried in one hand, are cheaper, & are generally cordless. They are used for trimming hedges and bushes, giving users a precise level of control. They also often contain an interchangeable grass shearing blade, allowing them to be used for fine trimming of lawn edges & path borders. If you want a well kept, ordered garden, but do not want to fork out for a large piece of equipment like a Hedge Trimmer or Grass Trimmer, Shrub Shears may well be for you. Due to their small size, cordless runtime is less of an issue with Shrub Shears than with larger power tools, & most models can operate for an hour or more before requiring recharging. Look for a model with a charge level/battery status indicator, so that you will know when to charge your shears, & how long to do it for.
Safety when using your Shrub Shears
Always ensure that the power is definitely switched off before cleaning the blade. Some protective equipment is recommended in order to operate your shears safely. Safety Glasses
will shield your eyes from any small particles propelled towards you by the shears' cutting action. A good pair of Gloves
will help you keep a firm grip on your Shrub Shears & operate them with accuracy.
Maintaining your Shrub Shears
The blades on your Shrub Shears will require cleaning to remove small fragments of grass or leaves, & to prevent rusting. Treating the blade with GT85
will repel moisture & also help to deter the development of rust. Blades will need to be substituted for Replacement Blades
when wear begins to impact performance.
