Tree Loppers & Pruners

What you need to know about Tree Loppers & Pruners

Tree Loppers & Pruners enable the easy removal of unwanted branches & foliage from ground level. They're much safer to use than ladders, & a cheaper alternative than hiring tree surgeons. They consist of a long pole, usually telescopically extendable, & an attached cutting head. Pole lengths vary from as little as a meter to above four meters. In the case of Tree Pruners, the head contains two small cutting blades that are moved together to sever stems & foliage (much like a pair of Secateurs). Tree Loppers come with an attached, curved saw blade instead, making them more suitable for severing larger branches. Many Tree Loppers & Pruners come with both kinds of head, so one can be substituted for the other to accommodate different cutting tasks. Most Tree Loppers & Pruners are also fitted with a rope lever & pulley system, allowing the blade or blades to be moved without having to move the pole itself. This development makes them considerably easier to use; in order to cut through branches or foliage, one simply has to tug on the rope while the pole is held in place. Another option for tree maintenance from ground level is using a powered Pole & Tree Pruner; these will be preferred for more demanding limbing jobs.

Safety when using Tree Loppers & Pruners

The most important safety consideration to bear in mind when using a Tree Lopper & Pruner is where a severed branch will fall. Never stand directly underneath a branch while cutting, & ensure that they area below is clear of obstructions.
