Read 32 Customer Review(s) for Bosch AKE 40-19S Electric Chainsaw 400mm
Chainsaw has proved to be very robust and functions precisely how I wished.
Have owned a petrol chain saw for over 20 years but wanted something lightweight and instant start to evaluate, hence the ake 40-19s. Have just used it to fell and cut up, into wood burner sized 10 inch logs, a 50 foot tall weymouth pine with a trunk diameter of 27 inches. some may say that I was pushing the saw to its limits but it did the job without any difficulty whatsoever. Not once did it give the impression of being overloaded even when doing the primary main (felling) cuts. Initial assembly from packaging and following operation is simple and secure and the quality is, as one might expect from bosch, quite up to standard and I was especially impressed by the ease of chain tensioning. Despite the number of cuts that I had to make, because the blade/chain assembly is remarkably thin, the amount of sawdust produced was less than expected, yet the saw tackled the job without any fuss and the cutting rate into living wood was all that I hoped for. the only minor complaint I have is that it is very easy to activate the auto shut off device if, like self, one has big hands, you will find that the space between the handle and the guard is a little tight. In my opinion, the saw has paid for itself in its first operation as if I had commissioned a tree surgeon to deal with this fir tree,it would have been at least twice the price. Bravo bosch, well done.
I am unable to review this item as I have not used it yet, but by the look of things I am very happy about the build of the chainsaw, it is a Bosch product after all, you don't expect anything less from German manufactured goods. I am really looking forward to having a go! warmest regards Dot Mansley
It's early days yet but so far this saw is far preferable to the husqvarna petrol saw of the same size which i've used for several years. power is easily equivalent, it's much lighter, not in the least bit temperamental, and altogether much easier to use. one small awkwardness is that the chain doesn't freewheel for sharpening.
The machine performs well for its intended use. Most of the item is plastic which whilst clearly suitable creates the impression of filmsy. Given this i.E. Plastic body a bit over priced, possibly paying for the name. to early to give a reliability rating.
This machine makes very light work of cutting through trees & logs as you would expect. It is extreamily easy to put togrther as long as you follow the markings on the casing showing the direction of chain & the small diagram showing chain position. The chainsaw itself has some useful safety features that are vital on such a tool. The oil comes as part of the pack so no need to purchase separately. Just put it together & away you go. i have only given this tool a 4 star rating as there are better & more expensive tools on the market but if you are only looking to tidy up your garden & chop some logs for the fire then i highly recommend this product. I would also recommend that you purchase from this website as you will be hard pressed to find it cheaper. If you let the machine do the work & don't try & force it through the wood you should have no problems & it will serve you well. i would recommend that anyone thinking of purchasing such a tool for the first time also invest in some safety products as it can be very unforgiving if you get it wrong.
I have been cutting logs from a ash tree know problems at all made light work of the work the safety trip feature works perfect when needed.
Machine has power and easy to use, chain on guide has a tendency to frequently loosen however, the adjuster is very quick and straight foreward ,over all very good tool.
I've used a petrol chainsaw in the past and i found this electric chainsaw much easier to operate. the trailing lead is no problem for ground-level work, but i wouldn't like to use it at high level. overall quality is good and no problems encountered so far. excellent service from tooled-up.Com
This is the second bosch electric chainsaw i have purchased. The fact that i bought bosch again says something. (i did research alternatives) i find this easy to use and is well balanced. I have cut some thick trunks which it handles with no problem. tensioning the chain is easy although i occasionally find it hard to release the lock control. A pair of pliers releases immediately. The oil reservoir is easily accessed. overall, i would fully recommend this chainsaw for light to medium use.
I had the ake 35 for several years, worked it hard but eventually the clutch wore out. No hesitation in going for another bosch, only used it a few times but so far so good, very pleased to get a free spare chain too. my main tip would be sharpen the chain every time you use it (with this or any chain saw).
Since 2004 i have had 3 bosch electric chainsaws. One of them did not last long (under fairly heavy domestic use) - the brake broke. The others were pretty reliable and lasted well - the motor bearing eventually went on one. As long as you keep a sharp chain they perform well and cut easily, they're comfortable to use and easy to adjust and maintain.
Cutting for a log burner? Don't bother to look any further, this will do all the cutting you are likely to need. Keep the blade sharp it'll cut anything even logs of 12-15 inch diameter no problem. Highly delighted with it done all the cutting i'll need for this winter.
This the first chain saw i have ever used but i did some reading before trying it out so i was safe. The chain is fairly easy to install and the chain tensioner is good and easy to use. I was aware that bosch only supply a small sachet of chain oil really only enough for testing. So i ordered 5 litres with the saw. Tooled up gave a free chain with my purchse. After using it a couple of times a small puddle of oil has formed i am not sure if this is a leak or excess from the chain, i need to see if there is any oil adjustment as it seems to use quite a lot. I carried out the oil test over a sheet of paper and the line is quite heavy. I am very pleased with the product so far in testing it sliced through 8" logs with ease.
Had good, trouble free use from this saw over the last couple of months.. Have had no problems at all. Keep the chain sharp, oiled up and adjusted is all you need to worry about. It'll keep pace with you. For ground work, with a ready power supply it is ideal for frequent stop start use, you do not have the problem of the of pull, pull petrol model. There is no worry about storing petrol, no smell or exhaust fume and it's quieter than the petrol model. If you intend to dangle about 50 feet up a tree, then perhaps this is not the saw for you. For keeping that log burner happy whatever the size of log preferred this is the saw for you. Would purchase the same again if necessary.
My first electric chainsaw and so far every big as powerful as my petrol chainsaws and much easier to use except for mains supply of course
Very pleased with the performance so far. easy to assemble, good instructions. very speedy ordering/delivery - all very efficient.
Great purchase. seems to handle anything i can throw at it with gusto! much quieter than a petrol machine too. ordering (via phone) to the tooled-up team was a breeze - very efficient lady at the end who was able to confirm i would receive the free spare chain (it was a 'limited' offer). delivered the next day. excellent.
Very pleased with the product
Product fine. Instruction book poor quality and one page missing. Starter oil sachet had leaked half its contents within the packing.
