An absolutely brilliant machine! Sound quality is very good, rich and vibrant. You can charge an xr battery, or if mains power is inaccessible, use that battery to power the radio. Two 3-pin sockets on the side means you don't 'lose' the socket on your extension lead you're using to power the radio, in fact actually add one...Brilliant idea! A 3.5mm socket, along with a usb socket allow the use of an mp3/ipod, which will be charged via the usb while it's being used. Your mp3/ipod is protected by being enclosed inside a compartment in the radio, as is the xr battery you're charging/using. the only irritation/complaint is minor. The mains lead is permanently wired in, so while you can run it with a battery, the mains cable comes with you. However, the mains cable has a place provided to wind it around, with a clip on the cable to keep it in place....So i've actually negated my only complaint!!!....So it is faultless after all!!! it's not a cheap radio by any means, but it's much more than just a radio. Buy it and you won't be disappointed, i certainly wasn't!!
