Customer Questions & Answers
Q : Do you know when these will be back in stock please?
A : Hi Helen, the current due date we've got from Draper is around the 20th of April, so some months away - however, I should mention that these dates have been very unreliable recently due to all manner of logistical issues with getting shipments into the country. Hopefully the situation is improving but at any rate once this is properly confirmed the ETA should start to show on our website
Q : Hi, does this chuck include the internal parts (three jaws, three springs, and round metal disc that they rest on), or is it just the outer case? I’ve lost one of the jaws so wondered if buying this will replace it? Thanks
A : Hi Phil, I checked with Draper and they advised this part is supplied as a complete replacement chuck with the jaws and internal components included
Q : What is the diameter and thread size please
A : Hi Colin, I've checked with Draper and they advised the thread on this chuck (Draper part number 21386) is 3/8" x 24tpi
Q : Hi! I am currently trying to get my dad’s old Fleetway Hand Drill back into operation. The jaws and springs are missing and for sentimental reasons I would like to get it to a working stage. Could I fit an new chuck to this drill and if so can you advise which chuck would suit? Regards P. Kieran Ward
A : Hi there, I'm sure you will be able to fit a new chuck onto it but unfortunately I'm not able to confirm the specifications of this Draper chuck or the one you need! I'm not sure how standardized these old hand drills were, or if they all used odd connections so you might want to do a bit of research unless you want to take a gamble. I'm sure this chuck will be as close to "standard" as Draper can make it, if thats any help.
Q : Hello, the chucks on our Draper hand drills at school have been taken apart and I can't put them back together! I have the 3 triangular pieces, joined with 3 springs and the 2 screw sections which I have put together but the triangular sections do not open and close. Do I need a whole new unit once the springs have come apart or am i missing a piece! Thank you!
A : Hi Donna, it sounds like you have all the components and they should go back together OK, unless the springs are damaged or something isn't seated correctly. There are a few different designs for these chucks though - Draper's product support department may have parts listings and info sheets available if you are able to contact them with a model number for the drill?
Q : Would this fit a Stanley 803 hand drill?
A : Hi Steven, unfortunately I can't find much info on the specs of the standard 803 chuck or this model, so it's hard to confirm. I'd say it would be worth a try as some of the Draper hand drills it's suitable for are probably close copies of the original 803
