The convenience the gardena water distributor gives in my poly tunnel makes it worth every penny. In conjunction with the water timer, and a drip feed watering system, i can ensure that each channel gives a different time for watering according to the needs of each bed. I can go away for the weekends and even on holiday, secure in the knowledge that when i return my precious veg, flowers and fruit plants will be watered and happily growing. The only issue i have found is when there is a fluctuation in water pressure (which happens occasionally in my area) it can confuse the distributor and it can jump a timer period, so it has to be checked every now and then to make sure everything is in sync. My wife was very skeptical as i was installing this "high tec" gadget, but even she has come around! Highly recommended.

I’m about to pack this divide up and take it back to the shop. it’s basically rubbish. It is a mechanical stepper device that moves the pass through hole onwards by a step each time it cycles. Sort of like those retracting pens with the spring loaded button on the end. it has no capacity to return itself to the start position if you do a manual water of a zone. So if you manually water eg. zone 2 - at the end it steps to zone 5 3 and stops there. You have to manually go out and step by step it through back through zone 3 then zone 4 then 5 then 6 then to zone 1 for the next automatic watering the next day. That’s rubbish. Secondly, I have only 5 zones attached. it will not automatically step from zone 5 to zone 1 at the end of the cycle. it stops at zone 6 because there is no pressure cycle to step it through zone 6 back to zone 1. This extremely expensive device is worse then some of the cheap chinese timers I’ve had.

Q : I initially set up water distributor with computer timer on all 6 outlets but have recently changed to only 5. Problem I have is after 5th watering the distributor does not switch back to number 1 ready for following day. I have put switch 6 back to off position and have put on end cap. The timer has only 5 cycles and all five are for 15mins every day. Unless I manually move distributor to read number 1 in the view window the following day it will only water on number 5. Your suggestion on how to correct this will be appreciated. Many thanks Marilyn
A : Hi Marilyn, are you using it with the Gardena 1060 water timer? From what I understand, it can work with other water timers/ water computers but functionality is limited. I would say the best thing to do is probably to try and contact Gardena on their helpline as it will probably be easier for them to troubleshoot the problem over the phone. You can reach them on 020 8805 3535 here in the UK but it looks like you might be based in Australia and so might want to try and find a local office.
Q : Does it work on AA battery or electricity
A : Hi Kirit, the unit itself does not need to be electrically powered, but note that it is designed to be used in conjunction with a 1060 computer water timer.
