I use tarpaulins & plastic sheeting around the garden/diy/camping. Primarily I was putting together a personal survival kit & was looking for some plastic stocking(ladies lingerie) top clips as seen in a £40 survival kit.I got some strange looks from the ladies in the sewing shops but the bottom line is they were too flimsy & even had a gap in the clip on one side. Then by Divine Intervention I came to tooled up for a sanding plate & was prompted to check out the tarpaulins. These are better than what I was looking for, absolutely perfect!I thought they were expensive at first, but do not get fooled(like me)by the picture these clips are HUGE.I have put them away now but I think they were approx 3-4" long.A very solid screw mechanism & I choose these rather than the other clips because of excess of plastic around the hole.....unlikely to break in a strong wind. You could use paracord or thicker cord? Not for thick rope,I think.I have not used outside in wind & rain yet but am very confident they will do the job.You may have to fold plastic sheeting over a few times on the edge for a tighter grip?I am very pleased with these & had not seen them before.I bought 2 sets & would recommend them for the reasons above but it is up to you if you prefer the other clips.
