Auger Drill Bits
Auger Drill Bits Information
Based on a design principle that has been around for thousands of years, Auger Drill Bits are also commonly known as wood auger bits and while today they are generally designed to be used in a power tool, for a long time they were made for use in a traditional carpeneters hand brace. Auger bits are commonly used for drilling larger diameter holes than brad point drill bits, or for drilling neater holes than flat bits. Because of the efficient chip removal afforded by the auger's large flutes they can often drill to great depths in a single pass, where alternative drill bits would have to be backed out of the hole to clear out waste material. This makes auger drill bits an excellent choice for drilling deep holes in wood, and they are often available in extended lengths for this purpose.
