Black and Decker BEBLV301 Garden Vacuum and Leaf Blower with Back Pack Collection and Rake
There are three main types of leaf blowers – Petrol, corded electric and cordless electric. As a general rule, Petrol blowers offer the most power at the expense of being heavier and noisier and than their electric counterparts, and typically come at a higher price.
Electric blowers are much quieter and more suitable for residential areas, and are usually powered by either lithium ion battery packs, or mains electricity.
Corded variants are cheaper to manufacture as they don’t require batteries or chargers, though their obvious limitation is the length of cord they are attached to.
Cordless variants offer much more freedom, though the amount of time they can be used for is dependent on the charge in their batteries. Higher amp-hour (ah) batteries will offer the most runtime, while higher voltage machines will provide more power.
Leaf blowers can also be effective at clearing snow, dust and dirt; however please bear in mind they are not designed to shift piles of wet leaves and much better results can be obtained by waiting for these to dry out first.

No negatives, it performs flawlessly and is solidly constructed. Felt balanced and easy to manoeuvre. Wear ear defenders and safety glasses
Performed really well even on wet leaves, tends to suck up soil as well as leaves which collects around the impeller and clogs the opening, the twist to release the inlet pipe is difficult but may get easier with use, would be better if there was a dedicated tool to insert for removal of the inlet pipe instead of having to leaver the release clip with the supplied round bar. I find the on/off power level roller switch difficult to use, could do with a leaver or turn switch. Although there are a few niggles I rate this well and would buy again.
Good product with value for money but a little heavier and slightly more difficult to handle than expected
I have just plugged it in and it works, not used it, so hopefully it will last as long as the last one if it does then I will be a very happy. Service was great, delivery time very good well pleased with my purchase.
Excellent Service
It's a bit fiddly trying to switch from blow to vac and vice versa. Also the the throttle swith is on an awkward place for both blow/vac positions. High performance machine plenty of power so would recommend it. Also would strongly advise getting ear defenders as the machine is quite noisy.
release mechanism for releasing attachments is a plain metal metal bar, I feel this can easily get lost. Other than that its a great machine.
Very good product, easy to use, altogether satisfactory.
Better than previous Black & Decker models I have owned, but they still haven't discovered an easy way of connecting and disconnecting the tubes when converting from blow to vacuum and vice versa - one needs to poke a tool into an obscure hole to release a catch, and the vacuum tube still has to be twisted after ion in order to de-activate the fail-safe on the motor - not easy. But it now shreds the leaves very well - a definite improvement!
I love the backpack and the 2-speed feature - on the higher power, it really does collect everything. It is quite fiddly to change between vacuum and blower. My main issue with it is it gets blocked too quickly when used in the wet. I have had to disassemble it a couple of times now to clean the gunge that gathers behind the blade
Haven’t actually used this yet as it’s taken me numerous attempts, emails and internet searching to figure out how to get it working!! Just at the point of defeat I decided to be a little more forceful with it and hey presto it worked. The instructions are woeful and don’t explain anything in any detail. After researching I found many other people had felt the same pain but I couldn’t believe there wasn’t a detailed explanation of how to fix it! In short the product won’t work unless a small microswitch is depressed indicating that it is safe to use. On the blow feature this isn’t too hard to achieve, simply rotate the cylindrical orange Plastic filter until you hear it click. With the vacuum element I found it muchhhh harder to figure out. Essentially what you have to do Is apply pressure down the tube pushing the black cylinder into the main body of the product. Maintaining that pressure twist clockwise (again with a reasonable amount of force until you hear it click. If like me you have tried multiple times you were hear the difference in the clicking sound. Once fully clicked and locked the product should work....good luck!! Hopefully after all this pain it’s actually a good leaf blower!

Customer Questions & Answers
Q : My new BEBLV301 won’t start? Is there a knack to the assembly?
A : Hi Nicola, This is a very common problem – so much so that we made a Youtube video on the topic and attached a quick start guide PDF to the product on our website, both of which can be seen if you scroll down to the bottom of the product page. I believe the problem usually occurs if a micro switch hasn’t been activated when you put the tube on, and this only happens when the tube is seated in the correct way. A lot of people have trouble with it when they first try them out, and we’ve had people send them straight back in the past as they assumed they were faulty! But once you’ve worked out how it works I think it’s pretty easy from then on.
Q : Is the same model as the GW3031BP which is on the B&D UK website? For example, the GW3031BP on the B&D UK website says it has a metal mulching fan.
A : Hi Colin, they are different machines (hence the different model numbers) - the plastic fan appears to be the main difference between this newer model and the GW3031BP, which we used to stock but is no longer available from Black & Decker, despite it still being listed on their website
Q : Does this model have a metal mulching blade like the B&D 3050?
A : No, this model comes with a plastic mulching blade.
A : Hi Sam, this machine has a plastic plastic blade
Q : Does the BEBLV301 have the metal mulching disk of the GW3050? Is the mulching disk a replaceable part?
A : Hi Tim, the BEBLV301 has a plastic mulching blade - these aren't available as standard accessories but you may be able to get spares from Black & Decker (I can't imagine they would recommend you fit a metal one though, if that's what you mean)
Q : What the cable lengths
A : Hi Anatoliy, Black & Decker haven't published this as a specification but the one we have here has about 10 metres of power cable
Q : What is the difference between the BEBLV301 and GW3050 model. From what I can find the former has a back pack bag and less speed settings.
A : I can confirm that there are some slight design and cosmetic changes, and the BEBLV301 has a collecti9on rucksack rather than a bag that hangs underneath.
Q : What is the difference between model GW3031BP and model BEBLV301 ?
A : The GW3031BP is discontinued and has been replaced by the BEBLV301. They both have the same specifications and the changes appear to be more cosmetic than functional.
