Earlier this week, Tooled-Up.com<\/a> had the opportunity to visit the impressive Mercedes-Benz World in Weybridge, Surrey, at which the Autumn 2017 product roadshow by Power Tool giant Makita was being hosted. Mercedes-Benz\u2019s vast architecturally inspiring space, which houses a covetable collection of car innovation and design from both past and present, provided the perfect backdrop for this Makita launch event, which included several new additions to the 10.8v CXT series<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Whilst trying hard not to be distracted by the four wheeled machines around us, we focused our attentions, selected our top five favorites from this exciting new range and added them to our Makita \u2018Must Haves\u2019 list.<\/p>\n

With over thirty new power tools and accompanying accessories, we were among the first in the industry to be introduced to Makita\u2019s new range which showcased their renowned expertise in cordless innovation and technology. An expanded and well developed collection of their CXT 10.8 Volt cordless tools were on display, which now fully embrace the benefits of using brushless motors. Lighter in weight, compact and easier to handle for prolonged periods, brushless motors run on a reduced battery current, meaning run times are extended and you can get the job done quicker.<\/p>\n

Makita\u2019s CXT (Compact Extreme Technology) tools use the latest in lithium ion battery technology. For those who aren\u2019t aware of the range, it was introduced in 2016 as an upgraded alternative to Makita\u2019s original 10.8v li-ion stick battery system. Like the larger 18v tools, the CXT range uses a slide-on battery which introduces a number of benefits, including the ability to pack much more capacity into the battery for longer runtimes when required. There are two powerful batteries to choose from – the BL1020B<\/a> (2 Ah version) has a fast charge time of just 30 minutes, while the new BL1040B<\/a> (4 Ah) packs some real lasting power and takes just 60 Minutes for a full recharge using Makita\u2019s DC10SA<\/a> fast Charger. These lithium ion batteries don\u2019t have to be fully discharged before recharging, neither do they suffer from the memory effects which shortened the life of the old-style batteries. Both batteries have LED indicator displays to show the amount of charge in the battery, so it\u2019s easy to identify how much power is remaining at any time during the day. Capable of working in sub zero temperatures and with built in charge overload protection, these batteries are the foundation to the Makita 10.8 Volt CXT range of cordless power tools, which now includes…<\/p>\n

JV103D 10.8v CXT Brushless Jigsaw<\/h4>\n

The new Makita JV103D 10.8v Brushless Jigsaw<\/a> is light and compact, weighing in at only 2 kilos and having a 90mm wood cutting capacity, ideal for kitchen and bathroom work tops.<\/p>\n

Available as a naked model (JV103DZ) ie no battery, charger or case, or alternatively with two 4 Ah batteries, a fast charger and case (JV103DSAJ).<\/p>\n

PT354DZ 10.8v CXT 23 Gauge Pinner<\/h4>\n

The all new Makita PT354DZ 10.8v 23 Gauge Pin Nail Gun<\/a> can effortlessly fire 23 gauge pins from 15-35mm straight into wood. Weighing just 2 kilos, this handy, compact pinner is perfect for use on intricate timber moldings.<\/p>\n

It is currently available as a naked machine only, so interested parties will have to pick up a separate battery and charger (unless they already own them of course).<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>HR140D 10.8v CXT Rotary Hammer Drill<\/h4>\n

The Makita HR140D 10.8v SDS Plus Rotary Hammer Drill<\/a> is the perfect tool for making small holes in both masonry and brick work. Weighing only 2.6 kilos and drilling up to 14mm, this is the ideal piece of kit for second fix trades who mainly drill small holes for screw plugs. To minimize user fatigue during sustained hammer drilling, the HR140D has a vibration absorbing housing which helps to ensure a comfortable and secure grip.<\/p>\n

It is available as a naked model (HR140Z) or with two 4 Ah batteries, a fast charger and case (HR140DSMJ).<\/p>\n

JCP100D 10.8v CXT Multi Cutter<\/h4>\n

Complete with an automatic self-sharpening blade, this cutter is ready to run at peak performance every time.<\/p>\n

It is available as a naked model (CP100DZ) or with two 4 Ah batteries, a fast charger and tool bag (CP100DSM).<\/p>\n

CLX205AJ 10.8v CXT Combi Drill & Impact Driver Kit<\/h4>\n

Supplied with two batteries, battery charger and a Makpac case, the CLX205AJ brushless drill and impact driver kit is an ideal introduction to the Makita CXT platform.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

To complete the new CXT range, Makita have now released a two piece brushless combi-drill and impact driver kit<\/a>. Compact and lightweight, the HP331 combi drill has a 10mm keyless chuck and two speed gearbox while theTD111D impact driver\u00a0features a new impact mode which will drive fasteners at a low speed until the start of the tightening phase, preventing the age-old issue of damaging screw heads.<\/p>\n

Both tools fit neatly into a Makpac connector case which can be stacked with other compatible connector cases for transport and storage.The kit is additionally supplied with two 2 Ah batteries and a fast charger.<\/p>\n
