Many people are probably familiar with DeWalt’s ToughSystem and TSTAK tool cases which are both extremely popular storage systems for power tools, hand tools and other jobsite or workshop essentials. What you may not know is that DeWalt also make a third range of much smaller tool cases designed specifically for organising power tool accessories, and this range is known as the Tough Case system. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tough Case Basics<\/h4>\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many DeWalt accessories like drill and screwdriver bit sets come packaged in Tough Cases, and a lot of people probably own them without realising. By itself, a Tough Case is a robust miniature organiser which is ideal for throwing into a tool box or carrying in a tool belt. As the name suggests, these cases are designed for jobsite environments and they have a heavy duty build quality which will stand up to everyday use. Robust, thick plastic construction means they can withstand accidental drops and heavy impacts, and the high quality latches keep the contents secure during transit. Transparent lids are a standard feature, and mean the contents can be quickly and easily checked at any time – a real time saver when leaving for a job or packing up at the end of it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That’s not the end of the story though, as the Tough Case also has a few more features which might not be immediately obvious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interchangeable Inserts<\/h4>\n\n\n

Each Tough Case is constructed with a series of grooves running down the interior and the inserts which fit into them can be removed and re-arranged if required. DeWalt sells separate pre-populated bit bars like the one pictured above, as well as empty inserts and dividers which can be used to create custom accessory sets from scratch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ability to create your own mini tool kit for specific jobs makes these cases extremely versatile, and ideal for situations where you only want to carry the bare essentials. The bit bars will accommodate a wide variety of accessories with 1\/4″ hex shanks, and the dividers can be used to organise various loose items.<\/p>\n\n\n

Stackable and Connectable<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Like the TSTAK and Tough System ranges, individual Tough Cases are designed so that they can be stacked on top of each other and clipped together. This means that multiple cases can be locked on to each other and transported as one solid unit, something that makes your life easier if carrying or wheeling them around the jobsite, and means you aren’t confronted with a pile of jumbled up tool boxes every time you open the van doors. <\/p>\n\n\n

TSTAK Compatible<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to the DT70716 TSTAK Caddy<\/a>, Tough Cases can also be incorporated into racks of TSTAK tool cases. The caddy simply clips on to any of the cases in the TSTAK range, making it compatible with other TSTAK components such as trollies and wheeled bases for simplified all-in-one transport.<\/p>\n\n\n
