Battery AH Explained
The best way to describe battery amp hour is that this is effectively the size of your fuel tank, the more amp hours your battery has then the longer the battery will last between charges. More amp hours does not increase the power of a given tool.
Battery Voltage Explained
A tool with a higher voltage than another is a bit like choosing an engine in a car, the higher voltage will generally mean higher power & performance. As with cars though a bigger engine does not always translate to better performance so it is important to compare the specifications of tools at different voltages between different manufacturers.
Bosch PowerForAll
The Bosch PowerForAll Tool range is a range of tools you can buy knowing that batteries are compatible with all tools in the range providing they are of the same voltage. eg 18v fits 18v, 12v (10.8v) fits 12v (10.8v) etc. Please also note that 10.8v is compatible with 12v & vice versa as it is just a name change. Indego Lawnmowers also use the PowerForAll 18v battery but require a cover plate to be removed if changing.
PowerForAll has many advantages not least the fact that once you have a tool with a few batteries then there is no need to buy the more expensive versions with battery & charger, you can just go ahead & buy the much cheaper no battery versions!
So remember PowerForAll signifies complete battery compatibility throughout the range. There is however, one caveat to this, some of the very first older chargers will not charge the very latest batteries & a battery charger upgrade will be required if you have a first generation charger. All batteries fit all tools however.
As of 2021 Bosch has licensed PowerForAll to other manufacturers whereby batteries between these manufacturers will be interchangeable.
Important
You cannot use Bosch Pro (Blue) batteries in either 12v or 18v DIY (Green) products.

This is better than my original Bosch version which uses plastic rather than a spool. This model self lengthens, and is a lot lighter. A little problem with whether I should have had a free spool, which customer services state that I won’t get on a bare tool, despite images to the contrary. Be mindful of this.

Very pleased with this strimmer. It does a good job without being too heavy. It was delivered quickly and like that it could be bought without the battery and charger which we already have.

Bought this to trim edges of lawn against fence and works extremely well. Also able to trim along paths, but difficult to control line of the cut. Great service from Tooled-up.

Performed well. Lightweight. The only problem with the features is that you can't use just the blade part as a hand-held device to trim low hedges.

Can't fault item its a bosch! was delivered day after I ordered, which was very good, only down side it was advertised with a spare strimming wire, which didn't arrive, phoned to ask why, and was told you have to buy batteries and charger, with item to get free strimming spool! bit misleading doesn't say that on advert, however happy with purchase

Perfect for strimming lawn edges. Not powerful enough for anything more. This is a lightweight bit of kit for light strimming only. If you need to strim nettles or long grass etc this is not the strimmer for you.

Great lightweight trimmer and because I already had the matching lawnmower there was no need for the battery and charger. It’s a very easy bit of machinery to use and being wireless I no longer hate trimming. The height is perfect compared to most wired machines, no bending over or awkward angles. The foot peddle also makes it very easy to switch the angle and also from edge to boarder. The auto feed for the wire is either great or wastes a lot of wire. Guess I’ll find out once it runs out. I also didn’t like the guide wheel as it meant I was missing a lot of grass compared to guiding it by sight. Overall a great trimmer when used with the Bosch lawnmower. Wish I’d switched years ago.

Purchased the grass trimmer without battery & charger as I already had them. I have a back injury so needed a trimmer that was battery powered, lightweight & that I could use without stooping. The Bosch Universal 18-26 18v Universal Grasscut fits the bill perfectly.

Haven't had a chance to give it a good try yet but it seems OK in a short trial. Wheel a waste of time it keeps falling off. Easy to adjust the length, battery easy to fit, cable reel easy to remove/refit. Would be easier to replace the whole reel rather than wind a new cable on.

Q : Hi I dont know if the Bosch Universalgrasscut 18-26 18v come whit a battery and charger from £74.95 can someone please phone me on Saturday morning
A : Hi Paul, I've asked if our customer service team can phone you on Saturday morning on the number you provided, but for products like this where the price says "from.." it usually means there are at least two options to choose from. If you look directly underneath the price it asks you to select batteries and charger, so you can buy it either with these or without, and the price will vary accordingly.
Q : How do you fit the battery to this please?
A : Hi Victoria, I'm not sure if you're asking out of curiosity or if you're having trouble doing it, but it slides on to the rear of the tool and it should just slot into place with a bit of firm persuasion. You might need to use a bit of force but nothing too crazy. Usually an extra shove with the palm of your hand is all it needs.
Q : Hi. Does this machine ONLY use line spool or does Bosch (or anyone else) make compatible Brush cutting blades ? - the plastic multi-headed ones that Bosch make for other machines would be handy.
A : Hi Julian, this machine is designed to be used with trimming line only - we do stock machines that can be used with both blades and line and these can be found in our Brush Cutters category; however Bosch don't make any that run on an 18v Power4all battery
Q : Hi, any further insight to the difference between the Bosch 18-26 and the 18-260 apart for the price. This Q was asked on 18th June.
A : I asked Bosch at the time and they responded with "Thank you for contacting us, having checked our systems I can see the same thing that they are identical in specifications and even their written product descriptions are identical." so it seems that they don't know what the difference is! Unfortunately we've been extremely busy (and in most cases working from home) these past few months so I haven't had a chance to investigate further so far, but will try and get clarification as there must be something being missed here..
Q : What is the difference between the 18-26 and the 18-260, apart from the price?
A : Hi there, supposedly the 260 has a telescopic shaft while the 26 doesn't but bear with me as I'm going to ask Bosch to confirm this. When you consult the manual it says they both have an adjustable height and they both have exactly the same specifications so I'm going to see if they can provide any further insight!
Q : Hello, I have a Bosch UNIVERSALGRASSCUT 18-26 18v Cordless Grass Trimmer 260mm, and the edging wheel snapped off because I dropped the trimmer. Do you sell the edging wheel as a spare part? I cannot find any reference to it on the Bosch UK website. Thanks.
A : Hi Aidan, we don't I'm afraid but the UNIVERSALGRASSCUT 18-26 is still a fairly new product and this could be forthcoming. In the meantime if you try contacting Bosch directly they may be able to supply you one of these direct from the factory through their spares & repairs service
Q : I have the Bosch musicbox would the battery be suitable for that as well
A : Hi Rhonda, it will be compatible with Bosch cordless radios (I think thats what you mean?) as long as they are part of the (Green) Power4All range of tools for the home and garden. For instance it can't be used with Bosch Professional (Blue) jobsite radios and speakers.
Q : I’ve looked everywhere including the Bosch website and nobody seems to have universalgrasscut spool cap. It’s the grey cap that holds in the cutting line spool. It wore down after using for a while and without it the spool can’t stay in play and the grass trimmer is rendered unusable. Can you help? Many thanks
A : Hi Paul, unfortunately we can't sell you one as its not available as a retail part - did you try the Bosch spares service? If you go to the Bosch DIY/Garden Power tools UK website they have a Tool Repair and Spare Parts section where you can usually get replacement parts sent from the factory, so I'd guess this would be the best bet.
Q : i have a bosch drill which has power 4 all 18v 1.5 ah batteries would these fit this grass trimmer
A : I can confirm that your battery should be compatible with this machine.
Q : Hi I have a Bosche ALL4 battery and charger that I bought with a hedge trimmer. It is year 2014. AL2215 2.0ah. 18v. Will this be compatible.
A : Hi Chris, yes the current Power4All tools can all be used with older Power4All batteries so it will work fine - just bear in mind that your charger is an older type which won't charge the larger capacity Power4All batteries that have come out since. (for example if you wanted to buy one of the 4ah Power4All batteries it would need one of the newer chargers)
