Running a 4 stroke petrol machine without oil will result in the engine seizing and is not covered under warranty. 2 Stroke engines will have a mix of oil in the petrol this normally 1 part oil to 50 parts petrol but not always, again please read the instructions supplied with your machine. Petrol engines do require more maintenance than electric engines but if reguarly maintained they will normally give many years of use.

Update. Have used the strimmer about half a dozen times. There is a problem with this machine in that just above the point where the drive shaft enters the engine casing there is a tiny self tapping screw. This screw passes through the engine casing and the outer casing of the drive shaft. After a certain amount of use the screw vibrates loose, and the machine stops working. In my case the screw loosened and fell out into dense shrubbery never to be seen again. Machine us. Replacement screw obtained but problem persists, ie, it vibrates loose and engine stops. Am well cheesed off with events and have sought advice from ryobi about a fix for this problem. Othrwise its a useful piece of kit.

Seems to be powerful - and appropriately noisy. As a strimmer it is all one could wish for - i have previously owned 3 makes of petrol strimmer and 2 electric ones - this has them all beat. In long use it is heavy but it is a fairly butch machine. After using the bump head the brush cutter mode was a little disappointing - have not tried the hedge cutter but it looks and feels workman-like.

Nice piece of kit but not as easy to start as my mcculloch. The spare strimmer line (pieces not a spool) do not seem to fit my machine. Joint in shaft is a little insecure. Instructions for fitting the brush cutter blade are presented as a cartoon - and are about as much use.Rather wobbly when rge hedge cutter is attached - fitted but not yet seriously used. Probably better than average.

Brilliant sevice from tooled-up, ordered at 2pm tues and it was on the doorstep 0930 on wed.Have used the strimmer to clear a really dense growth of nettles etc. It made easy work of them. Haven't used the brush cutter blade yet bit will do soon. No problems with the machine, instructions fairly straightforward. Would recommend the product and tooled-up to anyone.
