Fence Post Hole Diggers consist of a pair of shafted metal scoopers, attached by a hinge at the base of the blades. To use a Fence Post Hole Digger, hold the handles together & drive the blades forcefully into the soil. Moving the handles apart brings the scoopers together, allowing you to lift out a plug of earth & deposit it to one side. Carrying out this operation a few times will leave you with a deeper, narrower hole than can be accomplished with an ordinary Spade, perfect for securing the base of a fence post. Your other option for digging post holes is a Fence Post Hole Auger. You can use a Fencing Maul or a Fence Post Rammer to ram a post securely into the ground after it has been inserted.
