Pressure Washers
Remember when purchasing a pressure washer it is important to consider how big the unit is for mobility, compact units offer the same or better performance but in a much smaller unit. Water cooled machines last longer, are quieter and are more efficient. Whilst bar pressure is important the overiding factor in cleaning power is the water flow rate. More water = better cleaning.

Jargon Buster:
Bar: This is a measure of pressure.

Bar - maximum pressure: This is the pressure achieved when the machine is first turned on – it is not possible to maintain this pressure consistently.

Bar-rated pressure: This is the operating water pressure of the machine.

Motor size: Motor size is measured in watts, and is indicative of how powerful the machine is provided that the product efficiently converts power into cleaning effectiveness.

Flow rate: The higher the flow rate (l/hour) the better the performance.

Universal Motor: This is an air-cooled, brush type motor that is light enough to allow easy movement whilst still retaining high bar pressure.

Induction Motor: This is an air-cooled (unless otherwise stated), piston motor that is more robust and quieter than a universal one which generally delivers higher pressure ratings.

Water-cooled Induction Motor: This is the latest in pressure washer technology. Modern-days cars use this method of cooling to optimise engine performance by maintaining consistent operating temperatures.

Did You Know:
Pressure Washers use up to 80% less water than garden hosepipes.
Pressure Washers are not subject to hosepipe bans if used for safety reasons or if a suction hose is used to pull water from a static source. Ie not the water mains. They are also not subject to a ban if used for commercial reasons.

Important things to remember when using your pressure washer:
Always use an RCD when using electrical products in connection with water.
Never use a non return valve at the pressure washer connection to a hose pipe.
Never drive or lay items on high pressure hoses they will get damaged.
Use the shortest hosepipe the jobs allows as it will keep flow rate to the pressure washer high.
