Bosch EASYROTAK 36-550 36v Cordless Rotary Lawnmower 380mm
Battery AH Explained
The best way to describe battery amp hour is that this is effectively the size of your fuel tank, the more amp hours your battery has then the longer the battery will last between charges. More amp hours does not increase the power of a given tool.
Battery Voltage Explained
A tool with a higher voltage than another is a bit like choosing an engine in a car, the higher voltage will generally mean higher power & performance. As with cars though a bigger engine does not always translate to better performance so it is important to compare the specifications of tools at different voltages between different manufacturers.

Really happy with the mower, battery life is fine and performs well , I can cut all my 3 lawns with 2 batteries (2amp) but performance obviously suffers if the grass is long or wet, but all in all a great light machine and a great price and quick delivery from Tooled up.com .
Excellent service from Tooled-up. Competitive price and swift delivery. Mower works well but doesnt seem as robut as my previous Bosch mower. Time will tell how it stands up to years of use.
It arrived quickly, works well, and is fine!
We bought the previous model five years ago. It has worked well but is now worn out. Fortunately we have been able to re-use the 36v batteries and charger with this new mower - good that Bosch has ensured compatibility. A bit disappointed to see that the new mower was assembled in China rather than the UK for the old one. It has a similar all plastic construction but robust in most places, so we hope we get five years of life out of it.
My second Bosch lawnmower. If it lasts as long as the first (10 years), I'll have no complaints
Does what it’s supposed to do
Had an old battery from years ago from a 36v bosch drill. This worked and great machine. Might need to upgrade battery to last longer but does a great job. Only negative is the fold down method for storage, better design me thinks
Great machine
Arrived when advised, bought for good product price and value for money. Easy to assemble, I am very happy with the performance so far. I Would recommend this lawn mower gets rid of all those cables, brillant.
A good lawnmower that cuts well. The only negative is that we wished that we had purchased it with a higher hp battery as the 1.3hp batteries do not last long enough.
Bought to replace cheap cordless mower. Bosch heavier and larger footprint. I am nearly 80 with small hands so assembly a challenge. Read instruction booklet but couldn't find 2 small wheels - encapsulated in the unassembled grass box! Came with 2 batteries - charged one but the second battery will not charge, constant red light on charger, even though I have cleaned terminals. Just cut lawn on lowest height and pleased with result. Bosch items usually reliable and robust so this should see me out!
The price was right with no batteries
First time use was easy to build up and get the machine up and running . The 4ah Battery lasted enough time to complete cutting my lawns . Although the Bosch 36-550 was not as wide as my previous 46cm mower, it was easy to manoeuvre, and very light to push around. After mowing I used my Bosch Scarifier to remove all the moss and dead thatch so should Finish with a perfect lawn.
Things got off to a bad start as, unfortunately, Tooled-up sent me 3 chargers and no batteries with the mower. However they quickly sorted out the error so I'd commend their prompt and helpful customer service. The Bosch Rotak is a step up from my previous cordless Spear & Jackson mower. It cuts more quickly but it's a bit noisier. All in all, a happy customer... eventually!
The mower tears through thick docks and thistles, good mower but battery doesn’t last long. Does my kennel and round the bases of four trees before dying.
Build quality of the Bosch lawnmower is really quite poor. Bosch used to be a quality brand - I have owned a few of these type of battery Rotak mowers but would not recommend them any more. My last one lasted just over 12 months and the motor failed.
The build quality of the grass box was poor. The sides ahead of the clips did not fit together. The handle adjustment is limited to just two lengths. Both too long making the handle too high for me. Being short I want to lower the handle, but cannot.
The Easyrotak is cutting well, and was a decent price at £230 as already had the battery. Having already owned a Rotak 43 cordless 36v mower, I feel like this one is definitely not as well put together. It works OK, but I worry about the longevity of it as the rollers and the wheels feel very cheap and flimsy. Time will tell, but first impressions not great. The Rotak 43 was more expensive at £400 but did come with a battery. I think it's worth paying a little extra for the sturdier model.
This product was purchased to replace the Bosch Rotak I bought 10+ years ago. The previous model was made in the UK and quite robust, although I have had to patch it up several times in recent years in an effort to delay landfilling that much plastics. The new lawnmower works well but seems to be lighter and more inclined to bounce around. I suspect the lightness is due to a reduction in the amount and quality of materials going into fabrication and some features such as the collection bin do not exhibit the robust design of its predecessor and I doubt they will last as long. The most irritating factor is the "ergnomic" handle which prevents me hanging the lawnmower in my shed without folding the handle first. Overall it is not an improvement on the previous model.
Does the job. Not as good as my old Bosch cordless. Easy to put together.

Customer Questions & Answers
Q : I have a Bosch 34 LI lawnmower running on a Bosch 36 li-ion battery. The lawnmower is long past it, but the battery still charging ok. I'm going to buy a Bosch 36-550 lawnmower. Can I use my existing battery
A : Hi Charles, although I believe that was the first mower Bosch released that ran on a 36v lithium ion battery, they actually haven't changed the batteries since, other than cosmetic changes to the housing - so yes, your existing battery and charger should still be fine for this newer model.
Q : Hi I have a bosch cordless hedge cutter. Does the same batteries can be used on the lawnmover the one I have is a Bosch ALL 18V 2.5AH Regards
A : Good morning, You would need to use 36v batteries with this machine.
Q : Does to confirm. I would like to order a this lawn mover (bare body). The specs say 'rear roller' included. This this correct? Specifications • Power: Battery • Battery Voltage: 36v • Battery Type: Bosch Green (Garden/DIY) Lithium Ion • Mower Type: Rotary • Drive Type: Push • Cutting Height: 25mm - 70mm • Cutting Height Settings: 7 • Handle Type: ErgoSlide • Rear Roller: Yes
A : Good Morning, The Bosch 36v cordless rotak lawnmowers should now all come with a rear roller.
Q : Hi, Could you confirm that this machine will run on the ‘ordinary’ Bosch 36v batteries please? I look forward to hearing from you soon.
A : Good morning, The battery required for this model is a power4all 36v lithium ion.
Q : What's the difference between Bosch EasyRotak, Universal Rotak and AdvancedRotak?
A : Good afternoon, you would be best to speak to Bosch directly for this information.
Q : I have lost the two grey plastic circuit breaker for my Bosch Easy Rotak 36-550 18 V How can I get replacements. Thank you
A : Hi there, Bosch are able to supply most parts as spares and replacements - if you go to the Bosch home and garden (DIY) website you'll find a spare parts online shop in the service section where you should be able to check availability of the parts you require.
Q : If I buy the 4ah Li-ion battery with this mower can I use the same battery for the Bosch ADVANCEDHEDGECUT 36v Cordless Hedge Trimmer 540mm and the Bosch ALB 36 LI 36v Cordless Garden Leaf Blower?
A : Hi Paul, I believe the 4ah Li-ion battery from this mower should be compatible with the Bosch ADVANCEDHEDGECUT 36v Cordless Hedge Trimmer 540mm and the Bosch ALB 36 LI 36v Cordless Garden Leaf Blower. The majority/all of the batteries across the Bosch Green (Garden/DIY) range should be compatible.
Q : Hi. I have assembled my EasyRotak 36-550 according to the instructions and ed the fully charged battery but it will not start. The manual diagrams are not clear. Please tell me how to start my mower. Thank you
A : Hi Tracy, a few people do have trouble starting Bosch cordless mowers for the first time and it's usually down to the safety key. We made a video showing the procedure in more detail which may hopefully help you out. If you go onto the Bosch CityMower product page on our website (product code 21030867K) you'll see there's a video quick start guide at the bottom of the page. Although it's a different machine, it hopefully covers the same ground.
Q : Could we charge it using a regular 230v electric supply in the UK?
A : Hi Valdas, yes if you buy one of the kits complete with battery and charger from us it will be supplied with a charger that plugs into a UK domestic power socket. Alternatively all the chargers we have listed as "accessories for this product" will also come fitted with a standard UK plug.
Q : Hi, what is the life of the battery?
A : Hi Adriana, unfortunately there's no definitive answer to this as there are a lot of variables involved. However, given average domestic use and assuming the batteries are stored appropriately in between uses, you should normally expect to be able to get several years out of them before they are beyond their useful life.
