This weed puller broke within 2 days of using it, the plastic assembly that holds the metal puller claws snapped.

I bought this to remove Dandelions from the garden. It does this , but leaves a massive hole five times the size of the weed.

Q : I'm thinking of buying this for my 86 year old mum who is a mobile, small lady. She can do a tiny bit of manual weeding at a time but she isn't at all strong, and bending down is hurting her. Her hands aren't strong either and she has some arthritis. I'm looking for your input as to whether you think this would be a useful and suitable tool for her and whether the mechanism requires any real strength from the operator or not? Thank you in advance for your help.
A : Hi Diane, I think out of all the weeders we sell the Fiskars Xact would be the one I would choose. Once pushed down into the ground with your foot you just need to lever the weed out which doesn't take much effort due to the length of the handle (I had a quick look at online reviews to see if anyone with arthritis had experience with this model and they likened it to the strength required to open a car door if that helps). As long as she is good enough on her feet to push it down into the ground (helps if the ground is soft after rain) I think she will find it much easier than the smaller handheld weeders
