Excellent tool that is easy to use and is just as good for chopping kindling as it is for splitting larger logs.
Simple & effective tool that makes spliting logs a safe & pleasant task. As a bonus it only takes a small space to store when not in use.
Hi i have been using the splitter daily since it was delivered (very quickly i may add) it's even better than i thought it could possibly be. Saves so much time ,it even goes thru damp/wet wood (more effort required immediately)but not that much. would defo recommend that you buy one of these along with the saw horse (see video)
The smart splitter manual striking weight log splitter is an excellent piece of kit that works very well on the logs i have tried it on, and they were newly cut green wood. The kit is complete, even including a 20mm flat bit. Make sure you have a chunky flat 35 cm log as a base for the tool. Recommended for anyone with significant amounts of logs to split. Also takes up very little storage room.
Such a clever idea that works perfectly would recommend you to buy one if you need to split logs etc saves so much time and effort
The tool certainly works well on logs of medium size. If you have larger logs it takes more effort because you have to drop the splitter many more times. It arrived very quickly
Fantastic piece of kit. Splits logs of all sizes with ease. Highly recommended splitter and far less expensive here than anywhere else. Delivered in lightning quick time too. Highly recommended supplier and product!
I asked my husband, who is the user, he replied. "well, it works" and when pressed for more details added "it is very good actually. It works with different types of logs. The hard ones take several strikes but this is ok." the nut came off the top at one stage (and was difficult to find) so we have given it less than 100% on build quality. Otherwise good. Much easier and less hazardous than an axe or mallet and wedges. It took a while to set up and needs a large base, probably several large bases, as i imagine the base will break up after a while.
Took abit of time to get the holder 100% straight in base holder but once in even my 12 year old son can use it with out rish of injury
Great product - much easier than axe and chocks
The splitter is a very good product. Not only does it split your logs it gives you a workout at the same time. As other reviewers have said, it does take quite a few strikes to split larger and harder logs. It works exceptionally well making kindling. Yes, the nut at the top of the pole is always working loose and you do need a hammer to remove logs that won't split and get stuck on the blade. You also need a very large base to fix the pole into to ensure everything is steady and safe. I was pleased to find the drill bit and spanner were included in the kit - a thoughtful touch. Overall an excellent tool but i think it is somewhat overpriced for what it is. £49.99 would have been better value for money in my opinion.
The design appeared too simple when i first saw it. it works and works well on both dry and newly cut timbers. these being mainly beech, hawthorn & pine. We have not neede to try it on kindling so i cannot comment on that feature.
assembling and using the splitter is very easy. i used it for logs of max length of 30cm, and various diameters and shapes and it did split the logs without failing although not always after the first go. i have to see how it performs in the long term
This is a good solid piece of kit but is not a miracle worker. it is able to chop a sizeable log but comes under pressure for larger logs and hard solid timber. the nut at the top keeps coming loose and the rubber seal underneath it has already worn away but this is easily replaceable. overall, the splitter is excellent for the fairer sex (i.E. Me), as much less force is needed compared to using an axe. i cut quite an amount of timber for a small stove in a couple of hours. i would recommend this product but don't expect it to chop evernthing. A lot more than
Very effective piece of kit
Only just set this up, but initial impressions are good. solidly built, with a heavy ?Brass alloy pole to fix to the block, and a lighter pole for the striking weight to run on. the blades are sharp, and i expect will be sharpenable if needed in time. the drill bit is good, although a little short to acheive the recomended 12cm hole to mount the pole into. my first attempt was slightly off true, leading to the blade swinging around when not in use. thta was using a drill stand - i would not recomend drilling free hand unless you are very steady! its only bee used to split recently cut green logs - takes a few strikes, but i imagne will do better vs seasoned wood. the biggest problem was finding a mounting block as the base, as it needs to be a fair size
It works well even with bigger logs and good for kindling to. Safe also and the kids love to help with some supervision from dad. Can be used in or out of the garage depending on the weather.
Very useful and easy to use log splitting tool. Needs wood block to be mounted on. Once we got the block - all very smooth. All tools needed to assemble are supplied. Useful as can produce kindling from logs too. So far so good!
This is just great - splits logs very effectively. great for making kindling or splitting larger stuff. seems very well built. simple design.
The equipment is much safer to use than an axe and sledge hammer. I was surprised how easy it was to split a big log. Highly recommended.
