It works well and it's a good idea for sure but it broke in half in no time so i sent it back (different supplier, not tooled-up).

It seems like it should be brilliant the design is cool and quirky and upon first use it is an impressive tool. however after 6 weeks of steady not heavy use the tip of the tool snapped off in a frosty log. I live two hours journey from the supplier so it doesn't seem worth the time and effort to go back and replace it for something else which may be just as unreliable. I tried contacting olympia tools but their customer service and support is about as much use as a chocolate fire guard. Better to purchase a properly drop forged splitting tool instead of some weak shoddy cast metal product that breaks easily.

A really useful piece of kit, it doesn't do away with the hard graft but it does enable me to burn even the most gnarled and twisted of logs in the stove.

No doubt a very useful piece of kit, it still takes a lot of effort and quite a bit of muscle to split difficult, twisted grain large logs, but at least i can now split them. It is a lot cheaper than buying even the cheapest 'log splitter'!

This tool works well, but it is a little short which means that on larger logs, whilst it will cause a split to begin, that may not be enough to split the log properly. that said, this is only a problem on quite large logs so will not be an issue for the average person splitting wood for their fire. when used in conjunction with a splitting maul-axe, you can get through most stuff with relative ease.
