The formula for the original ArmorAll protectant was invented by polymer chemist Joe Palcher in 1962, who noted its qualities for enhancing materials such as vinyl, rubber and plastic by cleaning as well as providing protection against UV radiation and ozone. Realizing its potential for car owners, it was released four years later as a commercial product called Tri-Don, where it caught the attention of marketing expert and automobile enthusiast Alan Rypinski. Rypinski bought the rights to Joe’s company, whereupon he patented and renamed the formula Armor All. Since 2015, ArmorAll is part of the Spectrum Brands Global AutoCare Division.
About The Products
The original ArmorAll Protectant remains the flagship product of the ArmorAll range; suitable for surface treatment of dashboards, tyre sidewalls, vinyl & leather upholstery, rubber seals and more, it is excellent for slowing the natural deterioration that affects such materials throughout a car’s lifetime.
Over the last 50 years, ArmorAll’s product range has also expanded to include several other car cleaning products for both interior and exterior surfaces. This includes glass, leather and dashboard wipes, leather care gel and ArmorAll Wash & Wax.
