Hitachi Today Hitachi is a giant multinational conglomerate involved in the manufacture of everything from refrigerators to nuclear power plants, but they started out in 1910 making motors for the mining industry. The power tool sector of the business has had a UK headquarters in Milton Keynes since 1987 and employs a network of nine manufacturing facilities worldwide. Hitachi products have received a number of awards for product design, including the Good Design Award, Industrial Design Excellence Award, and an iF Design Award.
