G Clamps

G Clamps Information

G Clamps, also known as C Clamps, are so called because their profile resembles the letter G (or the letter C). They are typically constructed completely from metal, with a simple and robust design that makes them hardwearing, durable, and especially suitable for metalworking applications. They can also be clamped down with considerably more pressure than alternatives like spring clamps or quick clamps; however, they are much slower to set up, and can cause surface damage to more sensitive materials like wood - to combat this, some G clamps are supplied with plastic or rubber caps that slot onto the clamping surfaces and act as a barrier to absorb the clamping pressure; alternatively a sacrificial piece of scrap material can always be placed in between the clamp and the workpiece to achieve the same effect.
