Battery AH Explained
The best way to describe battery amp hour is that this is effectively the size of your fuel tank, the more amp hours your battery has then the longer the battery will last between charges. More amp hours does not increase the power of a given tool.
Battery Voltage Explained
A tool with a higher voltage than another is a bit like choosing an engine in a car, the higher voltage will generally mean higher power & performance. As with cars though a bigger engine does not always translate to better performance so it is important to compare the specifications of tools at different voltages between different manufacturers.
Bosch PowerForAll
The Bosch PowerForAll Tool range is a range of tools you can buy knowing that batteries are compatible with all tools in the range providing they are of the same voltage. eg 18v fits 18v, 12v (10.8v) fits 12v (10.8v) etc. Please also note that 10.8v is compatible with 12v & vice versa as it is just a name change. Indego Lawnmowers also use the PowerForAll 18v battery but require a cover plate to be removed if changing.
PowerForAll has many advantages not least the fact that once you have a tool with a few batteries then there is no need to buy the more expensive versions with battery & charger, you can just go ahead & buy the much cheaper no battery versions!
So remember PowerForAll signifies complete battery compatibility throughout the range. There is however, one caveat to this, some of the very first older chargers will not charge the very latest batteries & a battery charger upgrade will be required if you have a first generation charger. All batteries fit all tools however.
As of 2021 Bosch has licensed PowerForAll to other manufacturers whereby batteries between these manufacturers will be interchangeable.
Important
You cannot use Bosch Pro (Blue) batteries in either 12v or 18v DIY (Green) products.

I bought this for the stairs. The vibration made my hands numb so I only use it for a few minutes at a time and decided not to use it to remove paint, just to sand the wood after the paint was removed.

Started putting this to good use, sanding bench, bird table, and little garden outdoor table... stained and now look good as new. Still lots to do, but very happy with this cordless sander. Good battery life.

It's a bit bulkier than I hoped, but my female hands are not that big. I would have loved a guide on best ways to use. Not safety instructions. Nice piece of kit though.

Great little sander, easily used one handed. Battery lasted 1.5 hours of "constant" use. Triangle sand pad fantastic, as I was using it for detailed work being able to spin the pad and use all three corners was great and made the pads great value for money.

Nice sander for doing the garden furniture. The battery life is good, but i wish i had bought a second battery as i kept having to stop to recharge (1 hour). the sawdust trap gets full quickly so needs to be emptied frequently. However a nice bit of kit and no need for extension cords.

I bought this product to help me with my summer task of repainting all the shutters on my french house. I have been really impressed how it sands down the difficult fiddly bits that you cannot reach with a larger sander.

Q : Can someone give me details on the battery needed
A : Hi Rebecca, there is actually not a great deal of choice when it comes to the PSM 18 LI as the larger batteries won't fit it - this means we only sell it in kit form with 2.5ah batteries - most users report getting over an hours use with one of these before needing to recharge, but if you think you will be doing bigger jobs we offer it in a kit with two batteries as well. You can choose these kits from the green drop down menu or you can buy the bare tool without battery and charger and add your own batteries and charger if you'd prefer.
Q : Please confirm that the battery is included. Your description says that it is but elsewhere it states no battery included. Thanks
A : I can confirm that this this comes as 2 options Body only with No Battery, No Charger and No Case or as a complete set with 1 X 2ah Battery, 1 X 240v Mains Battery Charger and 1 X Carry Case. These options can be selected in the right hand selection menu before you click Add to Basket.
Q : I am trying to find the battery charger for this sander. Can somebody help me with the specification thanks becky
A : Hi Becky, any of the 18v Power4All battery chargers we stock will be OK for use with this machine - for example, the AL 1830 CV we stock on product ID 20998687 would be suitable.

This product carries a full 3 year manufacturers warranty covering both faulty materials and faulty workmanship, it does not cover general wear and tear or damage, batteries, blades, bulbs and other consumables. In the unlikely event of a fault the item returned is subject to fair wear & tear and must not have been used beyond the scope of it's design. Please note that cordless products will normally have a shorter warranty of just 1 Year for the battery and or charger supplied.
