Draper Compost Tumbler

Easish to put together. But it's major drawback is you can't fill it too much as it gets too heavy to turn. My wife gave up long before i did. So really you need 2 which is a bit expensive. As the lids either end are not sealed it does get very smelly as compost liquid drips out especailly if you compost kitchen scraps. Would probably be ok for garden waste only. Nice idea as it keeps the rats away but a failure overall.

This compost tumbler is not up to the standard i am used to from draper. It is just too flimsy. I contacted draper in case it was a fake: they told me it was genuine. the cross braces of the stand are remarkably slender; the whole thing is a bit wobbly; the barrel can go out of round and jam the lids (you can free them up by patting the rims of the barrel back into shape); the flange which enables the barrel halves to be bolted together is quite fragile (as delivered to me three of the flange reinforcements were broken already and another was coming adrift); the flange bolts sit in water traps which will promote corrosion; some of the parts were rolling about loose in the box, one of the nuts had no thread. note that the "tumbling" method of composting requires several weeks in which to complete the process, therefore you will need at least two tumblers to fill in succession (probably more)or a compost heap from which to refill one tumbler after each batch is produced. i like draper but not this.
