Drill Drivers

Drill Drivers Information

Drill Drivers are so called because they fulfil two main roles: drilling holes and driving screws. The adjustable clutch on a drill driver allows the optimum torque to be selected for driving different sizes of screws home perfectly every time without fear of damaging the fastener or material surface, or it can be set to drill mode for drilling into materials like wood, plastic and metal. Note that as they do not incorporate any type of hammer action, drill drivers are not designed for drilling into concrete or masonry. For this you would typically use a combi drill, SDS drill or hammer drill.

Drill drivers are most commonly available as either 10.8v, 12v or 18v machines. Tools in the lower voltage ranges can't drill holes as big as the more powerful machines but they are compact, highly portable and can fit into tight spaces. 18v drill drivers are more suitable for bigger jobs and are ideal for general purpose use.
