Bosch ALB 18 LI 18v Cordless Garden Leaf Blower
Battery AH Explained
The best way to describe battery amp hour is that this is effectively the size of your fuel tank, the more amp hours your battery has then the longer the battery will last between charges. More amp hours does not increase the power of a given tool.
Battery Voltage Explained
A tool with a higher voltage than another is a bit like choosing an engine in a car, the higher voltage will generally mean higher power & performance. As with cars though a bigger engine does not always translate to better performance so it is important to compare the specifications of tools at different voltages between different manufacturers.
Bosch Power4all
The Bosch Power4all Tool range is a range of tools you can buy knowing that batteries are compatible with all tools in the range providing they are of the same voltage. eg 18v fits 18v, 12v (10.8v) fits 12v (10.8v) etc. Please also note that 10.8v is compatible with 12v & vice versa as it is just a name change. Indego Lawnmowers also use the Power4all 18v battery but require a cover plate to be removed if changing.
Power4all has many advantages not least the fact that once you have a tool with a few batteries then there is no need to buy the more expensive versions with battery & charger, you can just go ahead & buy the much cheaper no battery versions!
So remember Power4all signifies complete battery compatibility throughout the range. There is however, one caveat to this, some of the very first older chargers will not charge the very latest batteries & a battery charger upgrade will be required if you have a first generation charger. All batteries fit all tools however.
As of 2021 Bosch has licensed Power4all to other manufacturers whereby batteries between these manufacturers will be interchangeable.
There are three main types of leaf blowers – Petrol, corded electric and cordless electric. As a general rule, Petrol blowers offer the most power at the expense of being heavier and noisier and than their electric counterparts, and typically come at a higher price.
Electric blowers are much quieter and more suitable for residential areas, and are usually powered by either lithium ion battery packs, or mains electricity.
Corded variants are cheaper to manufacture as they don’t require batteries or chargers, though their obvious limitation is the length of cord they are attached to.
Cordless variants offer much more freedom, though the amount of time they can be used for is dependent on the charge in their batteries. Higher amp-hour (ah) batteries will offer the most runtime, while higher voltage machines will provide more power.
Leaf blowers can also be effective at clearing snow, dust and dirt; however please bear in mind they are not designed to shift piles of wet leaves and much better results can be obtained by waiting for these to dry out first.

It was great value to get the blower with a battery for about £15 more than the bare unit. The unit doesn't have a battery power indicator like other units, (drill, jigsaw etc). The blower works fine and is easy to use, but the battery doesn't last long. I used it for about 10 min and the battery was down to its last third. I've got other batteries so I'm not too bothered, but it's worth noting that you won't be blowing for hours on a single charge. The 10 min was enough to clear off the driveway. Solid little unit which is what I'd expect from Bosch. Not too heavy either which is a plus.
Five star product
When using the product ,i find the trigger on it temperamental.
Did just what we needed it to do.
I like this product, I purchased this one to replace the my previous blower which was worn out
This item was purchased as we already had one that we purchased a few years ago. It is very light to hold and has a very efficient blowing capacity.
I thought this would be a waste of time but was willing to give it a try. It works brilliantly on even wet leaves on grass. I sweep up the big piles and then use the blower to gather the remaining odd leaves. It also is useful for sweeping our large drive - so much easier than using a broom. Would definitely recommend. I've bought an extra battery so I can have two charged ready as we have a very large garden and the battery lasts a short time. Super
Excellent just the job!!! Excellent service from tooled up it arrived within 2 minutes of the expected time of delivery.
For a cordless blower this packs a punch, moves leaves, grass clippings, debris easily. Easy to hold/use. Battery lasts as advertised, charges quickly, well made. Overall very happy.
Lightweight for ease of carrying/using - perfect blower for a small drive and garden. It only blows, which is good as weight and performance is not affected by a vacuum / hoover facility. It easily copes with leaves and small garden detritus; fully charged battery gives about 20 minutes work, which is plenty for the small garden. Recharges quite quick. Only minor criticism is it takes a while to get the knack of removing/fitting battery to blower and to charger.
Previously bought hedge trimmer, this blower does not last as long on same charged battery as trimmer, otherwise very good, powerful enough, light to hold.
Stop working in the first day
works well in normal conditions but as soon as the temp gets below 4 degrees the battery wont work, so on a cold winters morning when you need it to clear the leaves it cuts out.
Works ok and last about 15 minutes which is quite good, but not man enough for moving wet leaves or large areas , need a petrol blower for that , on the whole does what was expected and is easy to handle and fairly lightweight. overall pleased with purchase although having a large garden maybe should have got for a petrol version.
I am a professional gardener and biased to bosch quality products. I know this item is more for the hobby gardener, but i use it very infrequently, so was not bothered about that. each time one grabs the tool it will go off if the battery is attached to it. There is no way to stop this. I have small hands and really have to try to grab it at the very end to stop it from starting up. also the battery will only last 5 minutes. Thankfully i have 5 batteries and the extra fast charger. These same batteries power my hedge trimmer and grass strimmer for a very long time. it only goes at one speed. And the blowing power is not very strong. For small gardens its ok. Large areas, no way. one of my friends uses a petrol powered leaf blower but i don't like the noise and the fact that one breathes in all the petrol fumes. Plus they are heavy. So i opted for the battery powered version instead. so in a nutshell, it does the job for small gardens, but it eats the battery power. It's light even with the battery attached. Very good to blow into nooks and crannies.
