Battery AH Explained
The best way to describe battery amp hour is that this is effectively the size of your fuel tank, the more amp hours your battery has then the longer the battery will last between charges. More amp hours does not increase the power of a given tool.
Battery Voltage Explained
A tool with a higher voltage than another is a bit like choosing an engine in a car, the higher voltage will generally mean higher power & performance. As with cars though a bigger engine does not always translate to better performance so it is important to compare the specifications of tools at different voltages between different manufacturers.
Bosch PowerForAll
The Bosch PowerForAll Tool range is a range of tools you can buy knowing that batteries are compatible with all tools in the range providing they are of the same voltage. eg 18v fits 18v, 12v (10.8v) fits 12v (10.8v) etc. Please also note that 10.8v is compatible with 12v & vice versa as it is just a name change. Indego Lawnmowers also use the PowerForAll 18v battery but require a cover plate to be removed if changing.
PowerForAll has many advantages not least the fact that once you have a tool with a few batteries then there is no need to buy the more expensive versions with battery & charger, you can just go ahead & buy the much cheaper no battery versions!
So remember PowerForAll signifies complete battery compatibility throughout the range. There is however, one caveat to this, some of the very first older chargers will not charge the very latest batteries & a battery charger upgrade will be required if you have a first generation charger. All batteries fit all tools however.
As of 2021 Bosch has licensed PowerForAll to other manufacturers whereby batteries between these manufacturers will be interchangeable.
Important
You cannot use Bosch Pro (Blue) batteries in either 12v or 18v DIY (Green) products.
There are three main types of leaf blowers – Petrol, corded electric and cordless electric. As a general rule, Petrol blowers offer the most power at the expense of being heavier and noisier and than their electric counterparts, and typically come at a higher price.
Electric blowers are much quieter and more suitable for residential areas, and are usually powered by either lithium ion battery packs, or mains electricity.
Corded variants are cheaper to manufacture as they don’t require batteries or chargers, though their obvious limitation is the length of cord they are attached to.
Cordless variants offer much more freedom, though the amount of time they can be used for is dependent on the charge in their batteries. Higher amp-hour (ah) batteries will offer the most runtime, while higher voltage machines will provide more power.
Leaf blowers can also be effective at clearing snow, dust and dirt; however please bear in mind they are not designed to shift piles of wet leaves and much better results can be obtained by waiting for these to dry out first.

Works ok and last about 15 minutes which is quite good, but not man enough for moving wet leaves or large areas , need a petrol blower for that , on the whole does what was expected and is easy to handle and fairly lightweight. overall pleased with purchase although having a large garden maybe should have got for a petrol version.
I am a professional gardener and biased to bosch quality products. I know this item is more for the hobby gardener, but i use it very infrequently, so was not bothered about that. each time one grabs the tool it will go off if the battery is attached to it. There is no way to stop this. I have small hands and really have to try to grab it at the very end to stop it from starting up. also the battery will only last 5 minutes. Thankfully i have 5 batteries and the extra fast charger. These same batteries power my hedge trimmer and grass strimmer for a very long time. it only goes at one speed. And the blowing power is not very strong. For small gardens its ok. Large areas, no way. one of my friends uses a petrol powered leaf blower but i don't like the noise and the fact that one breathes in all the petrol fumes. Plus they are heavy. So i opted for the battery powered version instead. so in a nutshell, it does the job for small gardens, but it eats the battery power. It's light even with the battery attached. Very good to blow into nooks and crannies.

Customer Questions & Answers
Q : Can this be used with the Bosch Power4All 18v 4AH battery?
A : Hi David, although it doesn't mention it in the user manual as far as I can see, Bosch have previously advised that the ALB 18 LI isn't compatible with batteries larger than 2.5ah. I believe the reason is that they won't fit onto the machine (which I guess was designed when the 2.5ah battery was the largest available)
Q : Hi, what is the model number of the charger that comes with the leaf blower if you order a single 2.5ah battery? Thanks
A : Hi there, these come with the AL 1830 CV charger (Bosch part number 1600A005B3)
Q : I have inherited a PSB1800 LI-2 cordless drill which uses an 18v 1.5Ah battery. Will this battery work in the ALB 18 leaf blower?
A : Hi Rosie, the PSB1800 LI-2 is part of the 18v Power4all battery platform so the battery you have will be compatible with this blower, yes. However, please bear in mind that the 1.5ah batteries don't hold a great deal of charge (especially after they have been used for a while) so you might find you can't use the blower for very long before it cuts out. You can use any Bosch 18v Power4all battery in it - the higher the Ah rating, the longer it will run for, however bear in mind that some of the larger Power4All batteries won't fit into first generation chargers, which you could have given that I think the 1.5ah batteries were discontinued a while ago. Sorry for the slightly long winded answer, but hope that helps!
Q : How long to fully charge battery
A : I can confirm that the charge time will depend on the battery that you have. I can confirm that a 2ah battery will take about 90 min to charge
Q : Is the weight of 1.8kg with or without the battery?
A : I can confirm that in accordance with the bosch website this item weighs about 1.5kg body only and 1.8kg with a 2.5ah battery
Q : Does the 2.5 Ah battery last longer than the 2 Ah one? Can all three batteries (1.5, 2 & 2.5) be charged by the same charger? How do they differ? Can you use them on the same tools (I have the Bosch hedge trimmer and strimmer that run on the 2Ah battery but would like it to last longer
A : I can confirm that the All Bosch 18V Power 4 All batteries can be used with all Bosch 18V Power 4 All tools. AH determines how much charge the battery can hold and the higher the number the longer the battery will last. Batteries are currently available in 1.5ah, 2ah and 2.5ah. Please note. If you have a Bosch AL2216 CV charger this will charge the 1.5 and 2 ah batteries but not the 2.5ah battery. If you have a Bosch AL1830 CV charger this will charge all the 18v power 4 all batteries.
