Battery AH Explained
The best way to describe battery amp hour is that this is effectively the size of your fuel tank, the more amp hours your battery has then the longer the battery will last between charges. More amp hours does not increase the power of a given tool.
Battery Voltage Explained
A tool with a higher voltage than another is a bit like choosing an engine in a car, the higher voltage will generally mean higher power & performance. As with cars though a bigger engine does not always translate to better performance so it is important to compare the specifications of tools at different voltages between different manufacturers.
Bosch PowerForAll
The Bosch PowerForAll Tool range is a range of tools you can buy knowing that batteries are compatible with all tools in the range providing they are of the same voltage. eg 18v fits 18v, 12v (10.8v) fits 12v (10.8v) etc. Please also note that 10.8v is compatible with 12v & vice versa as it is just a name change. Indego Lawnmowers also use the PowerForAll 18v battery but require a cover plate to be removed if changing.
PowerForAll has many advantages not least the fact that once you have a tool with a few batteries then there is no need to buy the more expensive versions with battery & charger, you can just go ahead & buy the much cheaper no battery versions!
So remember PowerForAll signifies complete battery compatibility throughout the range. There is however, one caveat to this, some of the very first older chargers will not charge the very latest batteries & a battery charger upgrade will be required if you have a first generation charger. All batteries fit all tools however.
As of 2021 Bosch has licensed PowerForAll to other manufacturers whereby batteries between these manufacturers will be interchangeable.
Important
You cannot use Bosch Pro (Blue) batteries in either 12v or 18v DIY (Green) products.

Very pleased with the battery performance, however, although the battery was compatible with the power4all tools, it didn’t fit my charger! Bosch ‘upgraded’ the chargers a while ago, modifying the battery connectors, so you cannot charge the newer batteries in the original charger? So, the newer batteries will fit older tools, but you also need to have a new charger!

This is my second battery so I always have a charged battery to use while other is charging. I use this across 3 different Bosch Garden tools Making the whole set of charger, batteries and tools really flexible. I love the battery driven Bosch tools. So much lighter to use and practical as no annoying cords.

Q : Grateful for confirmation that the subject battery is compatible with a) Bosch AdvancedMulti 18 cordless oscillating multi tool and b) Bosch charger GAL 3680 CV Thank you
A : Hi Robert, this battery is suitable for the Bosch AdvancedMulti 18, yes. However, I'm not sure on the charger you mention - the GAL 3680 CV is not a product we stock but it appears to be part of the Bosch Professional (Blue) range of power tools and therefore I would assume it is incompatible with the Home & Garden (Green/Power4All) range?
Q : I want to buy this battery. I have a battery charger AL 1815 CV. Are these compatible?
A : Hi David, this has already been answered in the Q&A but yes - the AL 1815 CV charger will charge the 2.5ah batteries. The charger which won't work is the earlier AL 2215 CV which comes from a time when Bosch hadn't envisaged the larger capacity Power4All batteries, and it wasn't designed to fit them.
Q : Hi, I have a Bosch PSB 1800 LI-2 Drill, but it has the older now discontinued batteries which no longer hold any charge. I think the answer is yes, but will these new style batteries fit my older drill? Thanks
A : Hi Matt, unfortunately Bosch have a habit of re-using the same model name for several generations of tool so it's not always easy to tell, but the LI-2 at the end means it uses a lithium ion battery and I'm guessing the machine you have looks like the one we stock on product ID 21030715? They have discontinued some of the smaller capacity batteries but as long as these were of the "Power for All" type, any of the current range of Power4all batteries will be fine with your drill.
Q : Hi, WIll this battery charge on the AL 1820CV
A : Hi Gary, the AL 1820 CV is a Bosch Professional power tool battery charger (from the blue range) and is not compatible with this battery. Power4All batteries can only be used with Bosch Green (Garden/DIY) power tools
Q : Will this battery charge on Bosch AL 1815 CV?
A : Hi Kevin, yes - this battery can be charged on the AL 1815 CV battery charger.
Q : Is this battery the same as a 18v 13ah 23wh -2607 336 039.
A : Hi Ella, unforunately I can't find anything that confirms exactly what battery what you have but as long as it is a Bosch Power4all (sometimes written "Power For All") 18v battery it will be the same type. It appears that it is so looks like it should be fine. Note that this battery will have a different capacity (the ah rating) but all this affects is the length of time you will be able to use the battery for before it needs to be recharged.
