Battery AH Explained
The best way to describe battery amp hour is that this is effectively the size of your fuel tank, the more amp hours your battery has then the longer the battery will last between charges. More amp hours does not increase the power of a given tool.
Battery Voltage Explained
A tool with a higher voltage than another is a bit like choosing an engine in a car, the higher voltage will generally mean higher power & performance. As with cars though a bigger engine does not always translate to better performance so it is important to compare the specifications of tools at different voltages between different manufacturers.

Bought this as a replacement for my 2008 model which packed up after 15 years. The 36V batteries were still good though, so bought this one without batteries. Seems to be just as robust and easy to use, except for the collapsible grass box, which does fall off more often.

Good mower but disappointed with minimum blade height being 25mm...means I've to cut grass more often...last Bosch mower I had was a 20mm cutting height and did a much better job...good machine if you have to cut grass a bit higher but can't catch low growing dandelions and daisies.

I have been using a electric Ergo Bosch which is excellent but decided to go for a battery one being more convenient I decided to have 2 - 2ah Batteries at least you have one ready charged for change over it’s very easy to operate and also reasonably quiet.

Does everything I could ask for. Initial difficulty adjusting the cut height. It was easy to assemble. I particularly like the way the handle clicks into place and can easily be removed for storage. I've only used it once but still plenty of battery life when I'd finished.

Only had the mower 2-3 weeks and used it twice so far. First impressions are very good. Great to mow without the need for power cable extension leads and then unravelling the mower power lead etc. Quality of cut is good and the roller works, so I can still enjoy stripes on the lawn. The large box for the grass cuttings is really useful..I only need to empty it once for each of my 2 lawns. I am pleased I ordered 2 x 2A batteries (not the 2 x 1.4A that were specified) as they have enabled me to cut both lawns without a recharge. Also pleased with the extended 3 year guarantee...overall a good buy. Just hope it lasts as long as my previous BOSCH mower which I had for 10 years before it finally gave up.

I researched this lawnmower and certainly have not been disappointed. The features are great especially the noise reduction and cutting right to the edge! The handles are comfy and the fact it is cordless makes the job so much easier. The battery holds it charge for both my lawns - a great product. The service from All Tooled Up was excellent.

Have only had the opportunity to use the mower once but after cutting it seems as though the blade wasn’t fast enough to give a good clean cut but ”laying” the grass down instead. Next spring will give a true picture of its capabilities

Excellent service from Tooled-up, delivery was prompt and kept informed as order was processed. Purchased the Bosch 36 550 cordless for my wife to use, so far the mower has performed well. Only whinge is that the grass box replacement is fiddly and could have been better designed - not the fault of Tooled-up!

A : Good morning, I am afraid you can only use 36v batteries in a 36v machine.
Q : Hi How many batteries do you put in?? I see you can buy 2 but is that the case one can be charging whilst you are using one? I currently have a Bosch and that just takes one which is great as I always have a spare but I’m seeing with a lot of new cordless machines you have to put two batteries in?
A : Hi Lisa, this particular lawnmower is part of the Bosch 36v platform and only needs a single Bosch 36v battery in order to run. The reason we offer it with two is (as you say) that some users might want an additional battery on standby to complete bigger jobs in one session. You could also use the spare battery to power other Bosch 36v tools at the same time. The scenario you mention is usually when a machine is powered by 18v batteries, which are commonly used in smaller handheld tools like drills but will struggle to power a larger machine like a lawnmower. So using two of them enables you to step up to 36v but without having to invest in new batteries and chargers (if you already own 18v tools)
Q : Hi I'm getting frustrated the box pings off all the time and stuff falls out it fails to stay in place what am I doing wrong I miss my old rotak already I hate this new model !
A : Hi Carole, I'm afraid I've not heard from anyone else reporting the same issue so it's a bit hard to guess what the problem might be - having consulted the user manual it says you should hear a Click when the grass collector is properly seated in place - it also says to check it frequently for wear or damage, so I suppose if either of these have occurred over time it might potentially cause the problem you're experiencing?
Q : Is it easy to manoeuvre like the easy rotak
A : Hi Carol, I suppose this will come down to the individual using it more than anything. It is definitely a fair bit larger than the EasyRotak model, and weighs 15kg. There is a very similar usage image for both of these models which gives you a good idea of the size difference between them.
Q : Hi just bought an ex-display 36-550, it took them a while to find the batteries/charger, was it supposed to come with a roller? There looks to be brackets to accommodate one. Thanks
A : Hi Chris, it sounds like the model you've bought was originally one of the bare tool versions (supplied without battery and charger) - Bosch don't include a roller with these, and it is only fitted if you buy one of the complete battery kits. Because most people seem to want a roller, and we get no end of questions about them, we only buy the battery kits and break them down to ensure that all the models we send out have a roller included. I've asked them before if the rollers are available as a spare part to enable them to be retrofitted to the bare tool versions - unfortunately they said they can't supply them separately, which seems a bit odd but there you go..

A : Hi Emma, we actually sell it in 7 different options with or without batteries and charger - if you notice there's a green drop down menu underneath the price which is where you select which kit you'd like. We make these kits up ourselves, which enables us to offer a bit more choice to the customer, and also means we can ensure that all the mowers we send out come with a rear roller (Bosch don't provide one with the no battery versions as standard). When it comes to choosing a battery, the thing to bear in mind is that the higher the ah rating, the longer the mower will run for on a single battery charge. So the 4ah battery will give the longest performance while the 1.3ah version is only really suitable for very small gardens.
Q : Hi. Are you yet able to 100% confirm that both as a "bare tool" and as a "set with battery and charger" it comes with a roller ? Thank you.
A : Hi Stuart, yes - what we have decided to do is only buy the Rotaks that are shipped with rollers included, and then break these down to make up the kits as necessary - so if you buy any of them, bare or not, through our site, it will come with a roller. There is one exception and that is the AdvancedRotak 36-750, which we're not able to do this on. All of the other 36v cordless Rotaks will now come with a roller though, yes.
Q : I'm a bit confused about having to choose a battery - does it not come with a bespoke Bosch battery specifically for it?
A : Hi Claire, I believe the stock battery Bosch send these mowers out with is the 4ah version, which they recommend for use on lawns of up to 550 square metres. However although these are all genuine Bosch parts none of the batteries are "bespoke" as such, as they are all designed to be used with any Bosch 36v cordless garden tool in the range. So if you already owned other Bosch 36v garden tools you might not want to buy another battery and charger, and if you only had a small lawn to maintain you might not want to spend the money on a 4ah battery when you could make do with the cheaper 2ah version instead.
