You can take the coils off with a flat screwdriver and some wiggling, but the coil is set in plastic, and this never feels safe.
You can wiggle off the coils or lever them off with a screwdriver. However i find the right tool makes getting the things off a lot easier, and probably reduces the risk of cracking the plastic coil cover. As you are probably fooling around with the coils to cure some fault on one of the cylinders, this means you can make the swap without busing things any further. this is the only single puller i could find. Mostly you find them in sets of three or so for vw, audis and bmw.
