Domestic garden shredders maximum shredding diameter is based on shredding green waste and not hard branches. Please note that brown waste (branches /twigs) reduce the maximum diameter the shredder is capable of. As a rule half the size of the maximum diameter for a guide to maximum brown waste (branches /twigs) the shredder will be capable of. Also note that shredder performance if affected by how much moisture is in waste being shredded. You must not attempt to shred wet waste in electric shredders.

Took an age to arrive from Tooled-up.com but for the money it’s a very good shredder. It can only shred fairly small stuff and struggles if the item is near the 45mm limit and is not dead straight. The collection box is very handy and the motor is a lot quieter than I expected. Overall a good purchase and has saved money on buying mulch.

The receiver for the branches is small and the material does not feed it has to be pushed virtually all the way at only one branch at a time. It is quicker to dispose of the material manually.

Q : What is the difference between a shredder and an impact shredder?
A : I can confirm that a shredder such as Handy THSSWB Silent Garden Shredder has a cog with 6 sharp edges that rotates in a cutting and crushing motion. The impact shredder has blades that rotate like a meat slicer and this cuts and chips the material.
