This Sealey pump offers the best value for money that I could find for installation in a 5m deep well to provide good flow and pressure to a number of garden standpipes up to 100m away. This is the third that I have had, with a lifespan of 3 to 4 years each. Internal seal or bearing failure seemed to be the problem; the most likely cause being the result of sucking soil/grit from the bottom of the well which the pump can't tolerate. Suspending the pump with sufficient clearance above the bottom of the well is critical. The float provides automatic cut-off at low water level. The pump will not restart until the water level has risen far enough above the pump (about 6 - 12 inches) for the float switch to reset. Some more expensive pumps have an automatic start feature when the line pressure drops due to opening a tap - a useful but 'nice to have' addition which saves having to remember to turn the power to the pump off when watering is complete.
