Victorinox Evolution S54 Swiss Army Knife

This knife is larger than I expected and is quite a tight fit in a pouch made for the victorinox XLT with its 50 functions. The evolution s54 probably originated from the wenger subsidiary of victorinox and incorporates its evogrip side panels that make it less slippery than the mainstream victorinox knives so its large size is not a problem. The wenger designs of some of the various tools are also superior to their victorinox equivalents and the range of functions of the s54 should satisfy almost every conceivable application. The quality of construction is up to victorinox's best standards, although some tools are so stiff that they cannot be opened by a thumbnail. Wenger versions seem to be more expensive than victorinox own, but the s54 (especially from tooled-up) is as good value as top end victorinox swiss tool, workchamp or XLT that have similar ranges of functions.
