Bosch PTD1 Thermal Detector and Thermometer

The Bosch PTD1 Thermal Detector is a compact surface and room temperature measuring tool designed to identify thermal bridges, energy loss, and mould risk in domestic and light commercial environments.

Using a built-in infrared sensor alongside humidity detection, the PTD1 measures surface temperatures, ambient room temperatures, and relative humidity levels simultaneously. Results are automatically analysed and displayed via a three-colour LED traffic light system — red, yellow, and green — giving an immediate, easy-to-read indication of risk levels without the need to interpret raw data.

The detector is well suited to checking windows and doors for heat loss, monitoring underfloor and radiator heating systems, and assessing walls or bathrooms for conditions likely to promote mould growth. Three selectable emission values allow for more accurate readings across different surface materials, while individual spot measurement and continuous scanning modes provide flexibility depending on the task.

With a working range of up to 1 metre and a 10:1 optics ratio, the PTD1 is a practical tool for homeowners, surveyors, and building contractors carrying out energy efficiency assessments or damp and mould investigations.
