Black & Decker's RS890K has been one of our best selling powered saws ever since its introduction and a quick glance at its features reveals some of the unique advantages that it brings to the table. Firstly, the scorpion saw was designed so that it can take the place of a reciprocating saw, jigsaw and a garden pruning saw, meaning it is effectively three tools in one. Interchangeable blades can be fitted according to the task at hand, whether you are cutting though wood, metal or plastics, and the adjustable shoe can be set at the optimum angle to suit your stance and hand grip: a sturdy base plate for jigsawing, a pincer for safe sawing through branches or a shoe & hand guard for use as a reciprocating saw. An onboard Autolselect system is an added design feature which ensures you are getting the best out of the machine no matter what job you are doing: simply select from a range of applications and the tool does the hard work for you, adapting its performance to the demands of the task at hand. This means that even inexperienced DIYers will quickly get the hang of using the Scorpion saw for common tasks around the home and garden.

Speaking of common tasks, scorpion saws are ideal for jobs such as rough cutting of timber in sawing mode, tackling demolition tasks when removing old installations, cutting pipes and conduit to size, pruning tree, hedge and shrub branches, and undertaking curved cuts, for example when making space for a pipe or fixture in floorboards and decking. Operation is kept comfortable thanks to an improved stroke length for smoother and more effective cutting through resistant materials, along with extensive anti-slip overmoulding for a secure grip.

The KFBES890K has been updated for 2019 with a 430 watt motor, an improved carry case and a lower price point. It is supplied with three specialised blades so it is ready for use straight out of the box. Spare and replacement blades are also available separately should you require them.
