Battery AH Explained
The best way to describe battery amp hour is that this is effectively the size of your fuel tank, the more amp hours your battery has then the longer the battery will last between charges. More amp hours does not increase the power of a given tool.
Battery Voltage Explained
A tool with a higher voltage than another is a bit like choosing an engine in a car, the higher voltage will generally mean higher power & performance. As with cars though a bigger engine does not always translate to better performance so it is important to compare the specifications of tools at different voltages between different manufacturers.
Bosch PowerForAll
The Bosch PowerForAll Tool range is a range of tools you can buy knowing that batteries are compatible with all tools in the range providing they are of the same voltage. eg 18v fits 18v, 12v (10.8v) fits 12v (10.8v) etc. Please also note that 10.8v is compatible with 12v & vice versa as it is just a name change. Indego Lawnmowers also use the PowerForAll 18v battery but require a cover plate to be removed if changing.
PowerForAll has many advantages not least the fact that once you have a tool with a few batteries then there is no need to buy the more expensive versions with battery & charger, you can just go ahead & buy the much cheaper no battery versions!
So remember PowerForAll signifies complete battery compatibility throughout the range. There is however, one caveat to this, some of the very first older chargers will not charge the very latest batteries & a battery charger upgrade will be required if you have a first generation charger. All batteries fit all tools however.
As of 2021 Bosch has licensed PowerForAll to other manufacturers whereby batteries between these manufacturers will be interchangeable.
Important
You cannot use Bosch Pro (Blue) batteries in either 12v or 18v DIY (Green) products.

The product as a whole is very impressive and I would definitely recommend. The customer service was brilliant, a quick response to any queries and the item was delivered well within the time frame listed on the website. My only qualm was that the sander could have been wrapped in a bag or placed in an unbranded box for delivery. This is because the delivery person left the sander on a doorstep of a neighbour about 2 streets away. The neighbour brought it round, but had he not have been as honest and wanted a sander he could have easily kept it.

Hello, I was disappointed in the product because being a cheap skate I purchased the 2.5 Amp battery believing that as the sander was a Bosch product the battery would be adequate, unfortunately it wasn’t, it is very underpowered and only runs for a few minutes before needing to be recharged. I am telling you this because I have had to purchase a larger amp battery, if I had been advised by yourselves when making the purchase the battery wasn’t man enough for the job? I obviously would have gone for the next size up - I feel somewhat let down

Not a bad item, good quality but glad I purchased two batteries as they don’t last too long so always have one ready for when the other runs out. I like the handle as this make it ergonomically friendly when I use it for prolonged periods.

Q : Hi, your website states - “Dust extraction port can alternatively be connected to an external extractor or vacuum”. Can you please advice how can I achieve that and what part should I order for that ? Thanks
A : Hi Manish, the user manual for the Bosch AdvancedOrbit 18 is available for download at the bottom of our product page and this shows all the necessary steps for connecting a vacuum cleaner. If yours won't fit directly on to the dust port (requires 19mm diameter connector) you may be able to find a suitable stepped dust extraction adaptor or you can always wrap something like electrical tape around the port to get a tight fit if it is almost there.
Q : Is there a Bosch model number for this sander please? Thank you
A : I can confirm that the body only sander has a part number of 06033D2100

A : As they tend to run on standard batteries and don't need to be plugged into extension leads or anything, it is actually quite rare to see any figures quoted for power ratings on cordless tools. There is no additional information provided in the user manual but you could always try contacting the technical support team at Bosch to see if they are able to provide any specifications on this.

This product carries a full 3 year manufacturers warranty covering both faulty materials and faulty workmanship, it does not cover general wear and tear or damage, batteries, blades, bulbs and other consumables.
