Bosch AVZ 93 G 93mm Starlock Oscillating Multi Tool Delta Sanding Plate

The bosch multi-tool is a brilliant piece of kit, but, in my opinion but this sanding plate is the achille's heel. While the various attachments are relatively expensive they work well, but this is the exception. The problem is that the lower part of the plate that forms the "hooks" to hold the sanding papers is fine at first but within 10 minutes the triangular corners were "melting", failing to hold the paper, which then floats off the pad. The original plate lasted much longer than this one did. I followed all the warnings about not pressing too hard, letting the tool do the work, etc., but to no avail. I suspect that when sanding in corners there is too much heat build up causing the plate material to melt. I have managed to keep a second plate intact and have now clocked up 20 minutes of use, but the preliminary signs of melting are there already. As a price comparison the only thing i can think of is that these plates are the equivalent of printer ink in terms of cost. I won't be buying again.
