Battery AH Explained
The best way to describe battery amp hour is that this is effectively the size of your fuel tank, the more amp hours your battery has then the longer the battery will last between charges. More amp hours does not increase the power of a given tool.
Battery Voltage Explained
A tool with a higher voltage than another is a bit like choosing an engine in a car, the higher voltage will generally mean higher power & performance. As with cars though a bigger engine does not always translate to better performance so it is important to compare the specifications of tools at different voltages between different manufacturers.
Bosch PowerForAll
The Bosch PowerForAll Tool range is a range of tools you can buy knowing that batteries are compatible with all tools in the range providing they are of the same voltage. eg 18v fits 18v, 12v (10.8v) fits 12v (10.8v) etc. Please also note that 10.8v is compatible with 12v & vice versa as it is just a name change. Indego Lawnmowers also use the PowerForAll 18v battery but require a cover plate to be removed if changing.
PowerForAll has many advantages not least the fact that once you have a tool with a few batteries then there is no need to buy the more expensive versions with battery & charger, you can just go ahead & buy the much cheaper no battery versions!
So remember PowerForAll signifies complete battery compatibility throughout the range. There is however, one caveat to this, some of the very first older chargers will not charge the very latest batteries & a battery charger upgrade will be required if you have a first generation charger. All batteries fit all tools however.
As of 2021 Bosch has licensed PowerForAll to other manufacturers whereby batteries between these manufacturers will be interchangeable.
Important
You cannot use Bosch Pro (Blue) batteries in either 12v or 18v DIY (Green) products.

At last a product that does what it's supposed to do. I recommend the bosch pole pruner, cut through a 3.5 inch pine branch like it was cheese. I also have the 18v hedge trimmer so only had to buy the bare tool. Better build quality than Ryobi.

I used this to trim branches of mature leylandii trees. I wanted to take 2-3 feet off the top. The tool needs a lot of care. Mulch gets caught in it, stopping it a lot. I had to oil it several times too. About 3 times I had to stop to give it a 5-minute break, I read in the manual if it gets hot to touch, it will stop and it did. The tensioning nut seemed loose a few times despite strong tightening. So a few hiccups. It's a precision tool really. It's decent enough if you have the patience for a few niggles as described above. The reach is really the best feature. I bought a 6AH battery separate and it needed charging about 3 times for the job. I think the thicker branches stress it out. If you get the 2.5AH battery often available with it, you will be charging it a lot. Good purchase overall.

A : Good morning, I can confirm that this adjusts from 210cm to 260cm.
Q : What charger comes with this pruner if you order a battery with it?
A : Hi Nick, This depends what kit version you’re after. The 1x2.5ah option is the standard Bosch boxed product but the other three options are kits that we make up ourselves. The ones we box up here are all sent out with the AL 1830 CV charger. Just had a look on the Bosch website and they say the 1x2.5ah kit is currently being supplied with an AL 18V-20 charger, which I can’t find much information on but I assume that must be correct.
Q : Is there a battery and charger included in this deal
A : This product is currently available in five different variations of battery/batteries and charger - once you have chosen a variation (from the green drop down menu) it will list the price, contents and any included promotional items in the description
Q : Can the cutting head be rotated 90 deg to enable horizontal cutting? What effect does this have on the oil reservoir?
A : The cutting head is fixed on the vertical axis and can only be angled up or down
Q : I have borrowed this from a friend. It did the job beautifully. I can't get the two halves to separate to get the thing back in the box. Is there a knack to this? I'm assuming it's meant to separate after use to store it. Thanks
A : Hi Christine, there's no specific knack I'm aware of and as far as I know it should be the same as assembling it, just in reverse (as you'd expect!) - however, sometimes these poles tend to jam up and often it seems to be easier to tighten them than it does to unscrew them after use - it may just need a little gentle persuasion but if it seems to be completely stuck fast you might want to check with your friend to see if they are able to do it?
Q : What oil should I use other than the Bosch supplied oil please
A : Hi Adrian, I think Bosch recommend that you only use their own brand chain oil in their chainsaws which we do stock under product code 20993687 but we also stock other brands. You can go to the parent category from that product, or just type "chain oil" into the search bar to find them

A : Hi there, as long as it is a Bosch lithium ion 18v Power 4 all battery (of any generation or ah rating) it will be compatible with this machine
Q : How long is the tool fully extended?

Q : Is it quick and easy to take apart for transportation.
A : Hi Helen, it's very easy to disassemble it in so far as it is possible to disassemble it (if that makes sense) - the machine can be split into two sections where you see the black sleeve halfway up the shaft, and you simply rotate this sleeve by hand to unscrew it. The lower half of the shaft is telescopic so can also be set to its minimum length before carrying it around. These two sections are easy to carry individually and should fit into most spaces without issue, but aren't really designed to be broken down any more than that in between uses.
