DeWalt DCS577 54v XR Cordless Brushless FLEXVOLT Circular Saw 190mm
Built like a west coast framing saw, the DeWalt DCS577 is a high torque machine with a rear handle, sky hook and a left-mounted blade which provides right-handed users with a clear view of the cutting area and enables the cutting path to be quickly and easily established by eye. It is equipped with a brushless motor which delivers up to 5,800RPM; a diamond bore drive system ensures efficient torque transmission, delivering superior performance and faster cuts, making it ideal for first fix applications.
The saw incorporates an easy-to-use tool free depth adjustment (65mm at 90° or 50mm at 45°) which allows for quick adjustments. It has an aluminium gearbox and blade guard for increased durability without excess weight, and an overmoulded softgrip handle for a comfortable and secure grip. An airlock compatible dust port enables the machine to be hooked up to an external extractor for a cleaner workspace.
The DCS577 is part of the DeWalt Flexvolt cordless system. These powerful machines run on 54v Flexvolt batteries which enable them to complete heavy duty construction applications with the added benefit that the batteries are backwards compatible with the DeWalt 18v XR range of power tools as well. This means you can run a huge range of tools off a single battery platform.

Battery AH Explained
The best way to describe battery amp hour is that this is effectively the size of your fuel tank, the more amp hours your battery has then the longer the battery will last between charges. More amp hours does not increase the power of a given tool.
Battery Voltage Explained
A tool with a higher voltage than another is a bit like choosing an engine in a car, the higher voltage will generally mean higher power & performance. DeWalt Flexvolt
DeWalt 54v Flexvolt is the new DeWalt dual voltage system. A 54v Tool can only use 54v batteries, however your new DeWalt 54v Flexvolt battery is fully compatible with all DeWalt 18v Li-ion Power Tools as it is capable of stepping into 18v mode for this purpose.
So upgrading to 54v means you can still make use of your 18v power tool range. 54v batteries are currently available in:
6ah (18v mode) / 2ah (54v mode)
9ah (18v mode) / 3ah (54v mode)
12ah (18v mode) / 4ah (54v mode)
The DeWalt Flexvolt system opens the door to types of tool becoming available in cordless that would never have been considered before such as Table Saws.
