Sealey SM14 Bench Belt and Wheel Sander

The machine is well built although a little noisy.I have found that the disk is slightly dished so care must be exercised to enable straight edges to be achieved.Generally speaking i am well satisfied with the purchase.I am pleased that the drive force is an induction motor.

I previously left the review below one month after purchase. it has had limited use in the last two years but has become increasingly unfit for purpose. I have finally decided to scrap it and look elsewhere for a replacement. I regret not returning it originally and claiming a refund. I note that you still sell this machine despite other poor reviews. gerry beetles

I have previously reported the problems of build quality that i remedied as i found the problems including 1. Drive belt not fitted just loose in the housing. 2.Problem of removing circular sander disc to refit belt. 3 broken tap left in base fixing hole so base could not be fitted 4 front guide roller for sanding belt seized because of distorted roller housing. i seriously reccomend that you do not sell any more of these sealey sanders until build quality is assured.

When i set it up i found the drive belt was not on the spindles so i had to remove my brand new circular sanding disk to reattach the belt. The belt insists on running 5mm off the edge. I just hope that it stays in place. If not i think i will have to dismantle the whole spindle to adjust the position of the cog. Saying all that the sander is working well. The belt despite all adjusting slowly moves across the spindle so you have to stop every now and then to readjust it again. I can live with that.
