Black and Decker BDCDD18 18v Cordless Drill Driver
Battery AH Explained
The best way to describe battery amp hour is that this is effectively the size of your fuel tank, the more amp hours your battery has then the longer the battery will last between charges. More amp hours does not increase the power of a given tool.
Battery Voltage Explained
A tool with a higher voltage than another is a bit like choosing an engine in a car, the higher voltage will generally mean higher power & performance. As with cars though a bigger engine does not always translate to better performance so it is important to compare the specifications of tools at different voltages between different manufacturers.
Black & Decker 18v System
The Black & Decker 18v Li-ion System is a range of 18v tools where all 18v batteries of all ah ratings fit all tools, allowing you to buy just a few batteries but as many of the range of bare tools that you need without the expense of a new batteries and chargers each time.
Customer Questions & Answers
Q : I have a Tesco own brand 18V cordless drill that is broken and discarded. I want to use the battery and charger from the Tesco drill and am looking for a new drill to buy. Will this one work OK?
A : Hi Chris, I'm afraid I'm not familiar with the drill you mention but I would assume not. Generally speaking, power tool batteries can't be used in tools from other manufacturers (and in fact it can be dangerous to attempt to do this) - if you're looking for a brand new drill you might be interested in something from the PowerForAll battery platform as this is one of the exceptions to the rule - for example the EASYDRILL 18V-40 we stock on product ID 21036642K. Bosch have recently opened this battery platform up to other manufacturers so it's one of the only cross-brand battery systems available at the moment.
Q : How to sure original from black/decker (exp my drill BDCDD12)
A : I'm afraid I don't understand the question but if you're looking for something that shares battery compatibility with the BDCDD12 this model is not suitable. The BDCDD18 is part of the current Black & Decker 18v Lithium range and shares battery compatibility with all of the tools listed in the Black & Decker 18v Cordless System Tools range page on our website, but not with 12v or 10.8v tools like the BDCDD12
