Battery AH Explained
The best way to describe battery amp hour is that this is effectively the size of your fuel tank, the more amp hours your battery has then the longer the battery will last between charges. More amp hours does not increase the power of a given tool.
Battery Voltage Explained
A tool with a higher voltage than another is a bit like choosing an engine in a car, the higher voltage will generally mean higher power & performance. As with cars though a bigger engine does not always translate to better performance so it is important to compare the specifications of tools at different voltages between different manufacturers.

This is a really useful tool. It is small enough to get into most places yet big enough to tackle even the largest of cutting jobs. Being cordless it will go anywhere and being Black & Decker is also reliable.

Q : How long will a 2ah lion battery power the saw for?
A : Unfortunately it's difficult to give a meaningful answer to this question as it is dependent on several variables - the speed you're cutting at, the length and type of blade, the material you're cutting through etc. The harder the saw is working, the faster it will use up the battery
Q : Can I cut metal pipe of 2.5in in diameter?
A : With an appropriate blade fitted you should be able to cut through a 2.5" pipe with the BDCR18 yes
Q : Does this product accept a 18v BL2018 Lithium battery and ALSO does it accept the Bosch S617K wood cutting Blade £11.95?
A : Hi Neil, it will do yes. In fact if you go to the "Accessories for this Product" section of the product page you'll see that they're both listed in there, along with lots of other compatible accessories that we stock
Q : Will this saw accept a B&D 20v battery? And if so is it ok to use it?
A : Hi Roger, I'm guessing this is a battery from the US? I'm afraid I don't know if there are any differences between these two batteries so I would recommend speaking to Black & Decker to see if they have any advice. They have a technical support section on their UK website and are usually pretty quick to respond to any queries.
Q : Hi. Will Fatmax 18v Li-on batteries fit this?
A : Hi Tony, no - this tool should only be used with Black & Decker 18v lithium ion batteries, which can be seen in the "Black & Decker 18v Cordless System Tools" link on the right of the product page.
Q : I have an 18v black and decker lithium battery for the strimmer, the battery looks a different shape to these - it has a button on the ends you can press to see how much charge is left. Will this fit the reciprocating saw?
A : Hi Anna, is it definitely an 18v battery? The larger 36v batteries have LED charge indicators on them but these are only compatible with Black & Decker 36v tools and wouldn't be suitable for this saw. I can't think of any Black & Decker 18v batteries that have the same feature but there may well be some - in which case as long as it is a lithium ion (Li-ion) battery it will fit.
Q : I have a battery and charger from a B and D ks1880s reciprocating saw. Will they work with this model?
A : Hi Clayton, as far as I can tell this was a machine that used the older Ni-MH batteries, which aren't compatible with Black & Decker's current cordless system. You would need a Black & Decker 18v lithium ion battery to power this tool - these can be viewed if you click on the "See the Full Range Here" link on the product page, and they are available separately, though the most economical option will probably be to purchase a kit that includes the battery and charger (if you still want to buy this machine)
Q : I purchased a Black and Decker drill (model BCD700S) that has a 18v Lithium battery and a charger. Will they fit this saw?
A : I can confirm that the 18v batteries for the BCD700S will fit the BDCR18N
Q : Does standard L shank blades mean a certain length ie 150, 200 or 240mm?
A : I can confirm that this will take any length reciprocating saw blade with the standard L shape shank and will not accept U Shank Blades
Q : can you tell me what blades fit black decker bdcr18n reciprocating saw
A : I can confirm that this will take all standard L shank reciprocating saw blades.
