Why use a Lawn Raker or Scarifier?
When you cut your lawn there is a gradual build up of dead grass also known as thatch - which congregates just on top of the soil below the grass tips. This will impede drainage and stop air reaching the grass.
Moss builds up on damp or lawns in the shade and will again affect the grass in a similar way.
Lawn Scarifiers
A Scarifier will help to remove moss & thatch but will also cut through the surface of the lawn. This has a number of benefits such as aerating the underlying soil & splitting the grass into lots of separate plants thus thickening the turf and encouraging a healthy lawn.
Use a Scarifier once a year either in autumn or late spring when the grass is growing well.
Lawn Rakers
A Lawn Raker will remove moss, thatch & leaves. This will help to keep a nice tidy lawn whilst encouraging growth as old dead material is removed which would otherwise stifle this growth.
Use a Lawn Raker every 1 - 2 months while grass is growing well.

Excellent product exactly what you would expect from B&D. Has been used on 4 different lawns since delivery and is just the job for a small to medium plot. Being as it will only be used in Spring and Autumn, should last years. Very fast delivery and good service.

Used an earlier model some time ago. This one is very good for a small to medium sized lawn. Grass collection is fine and it has certainly improved my lawn. Easy to adjust, it doesn't need a wide height range that some models have. light enough to use with ease.

Very pleased with the product. Having had one of the same make in the past i was pleasantly surprised at the improvements. The collection bag was very easy to put on and off . The machine started very easily and completed the task of scarifying the lawn very quickly. Very pleased

For a fairly lightweight build this model does a great job on a 12mx12m domestic lawn for a very reasonable outlay. Wouldn't be robust enough for larger areas/pro gardeners.

never had to use such a piece of gardening equipment,but due to localised flooding earlier in the year (water above ground disappeared around june) about 100' of lawn was drowned & died. we used the lawn raker/scarifier to clear the residue of grass/weed etc.It worked very efficiently & with additional work, the lawn/grass has/will return to a much better surface. great for the young grandchildren.
