Black and Decker KA88 Belt Sander

The Black & Decker KA88 is a 720W electric belt sander designed for tackling large surface areas such as floors, worktops, and tables with speed and control.

With a sanding area 30% larger than its predecessor and a 75 x 190mm belt contact surface, the KA88 removes material efficiently across wide, flat workpieces. The smaller front roller allows sanding three times closer to edges and corners — a practical advantage when working around skirting boards or table legs.

Dust management is handled by Black & Decker's cyclonic action canister, which uses a centripetal collection principle to maximise efficiency and keep the work area clear. The retractable hood further improves versatility, flipping back to allow access to tighter spaces and contours, while a bump stop on the front hood protects adjacent walls from accidental damage.

Day-to-day usability is well considered throughout. The lever action belt change mechanism makes swapping belts straightforward, and the manual belt tracking adjustment dial keeps the belt running true during use. The auxiliary handle features a soft-grip overmould and can be set at three different angles to suit the task and the user's preferred grip.
