I've used B&D Workmates for many years. They represent really good value for money, & you just can't fault the Build Quality.... I've bought this new one for my Workshop in Africa, where I spend half of my life. .....As I'm now 78 years of age, I'm hoping it will provide me with good reliable service for the rest of my working life. Highly recommended!!

A practical helping hand and an improvement on my old one. Not sure it’s worth 5 times the cost of my old one though. The frugal instructions would be fine if the illustrations were clear, but they are poor.

Essentially, this workmate does what it says on the box and the price is reasonable. However, there are three problems: 1. the plastic belt connecting the two clamp handles for one-handed operation slips off as soon as the handle(s) are moved; 2. the upright clamping function does not lock the front jaws sufficiently in the normal horizontal position - there is over 25mm of play which means that the jaws are easily bounced up and down when operating the clamp handles which is very irritating; 3. the rear jaws, which have three alternative positions, do not lock into position and are easily dislodged (e.g. when moving the workmate around) except when the jaws are clamped together or clamping an item. I will put up with it and probably carry out my own mods but if you don't need these extra functions I advise buying the less complicated version of this product.
