Battery AH Explained
The best way to describe battery amp hour is that this is effectively the size of your fuel tank, the more amp hours your battery has then the longer the battery will last between charges. More amp hours does not increase the power of a given tool.
Battery Voltage Explained
A tool with a higher voltage than another is a bit like choosing an engine in a car, the higher voltage will generally mean higher power & performance. As with cars though a bigger engine does not always translate to better performance so it is important to compare the specifications of tools at different voltages between different manufacturers.
Bosch PowerForAll
The Bosch PowerForAll Tool range is a range of tools you can buy knowing that batteries are compatible with all tools in the range providing they are of the same voltage. eg 18v fits 18v, 12v (10.8v) fits 12v (10.8v) etc. Please also note that 10.8v is compatible with 12v & vice versa as it is just a name change. Indego Lawnmowers also use the PowerForAll 18v battery but require a cover plate to be removed if changing.
PowerForAll has many advantages not least the fact that once you have a tool with a few batteries then there is no need to buy the more expensive versions with battery & charger, you can just go ahead & buy the much cheaper no battery versions!
So remember PowerForAll signifies complete battery compatibility throughout the range. There is however, one caveat to this, some of the very first older chargers will not charge the very latest batteries & a battery charger upgrade will be required if you have a first generation charger. All batteries fit all tools however.
As of 2021 Bosch has licensed PowerForAll to other manufacturers whereby batteries between these manufacturers will be interchangeable.
Important
You cannot use Bosch Pro (Blue) batteries in either 12v or 18v DIY (Green) products.

This hedge trimmer is brilliant. I had a smaller electric one and cut through the cord 3 times and on speaking to others found they've all had similar problems. This cordless model is a dream - light enough for me to use extensively, including high and thick branches, its like slicing through butter - I've gone a bit mad with it actually! I use a lightweight 1.5ah battery from my old Bosch drill (which is brilliant too) and whilst I was expecting to have to re-charge it pretty quickly it just went on and on, just as it does with the drill. Taken away most of the problems in the large garden as I'm 71 with some arthritis in my hands.
Good price for an excellent product. Comes without battery and charger which I didn't need.
Very pleased with the hedge cutter and the service from Tooled-up was outstanding.
Not been a great fan of rechargeable machinery but this is a really good machine cuts great does exactly what it should
This item was purchased by me as a present for my daughter and son in law. They used this at the weekend and was well impressed with the way it handle and was well up to the task that they need it for. Being cordless was a real bonus for them and the life on the battery charge was very impressive
Having just had a first shot with my new hedge trimmer l am delighted. It is light in weight, & ergonomically well designed. The machine limits itself as to what it cannot cut through by stopping. This clearly saves doing any damage. I am a gardener by trade, but have opted not to cut hedges in recent years, however this machine will enable me to do all the jobs in the garden rather than having to rely on someone else coming in to do the hedges. The battery was quite quick to charge. All in all, l am very impressed with this hedge trimmer, it is much better than the petrol one l used some years ago, and of course much quieter! Tooled up customer service was great too. When PayPal didn't work twice, l ordered with my debit card. Unbeknown to me, all 3 transactions went through! Fortunately tooled up took the initiative to call me and check my order, so l just ended up with the 1 hedge trimmer, not 3! Thanks Tooled up!
