Battery AH Explained
The best way to describe battery amp hour is that this is effectively the size of your fuel tank, the more amp hours your battery has then the longer the battery will last between charges. More amp hours does not increase the power of a given tool.
Battery Voltage Explained
A tool with a higher voltage than another is a bit like choosing an engine in a car, the higher voltage will generally mean higher power & performance. As with cars though a bigger engine does not always translate to better performance so it is important to compare the specifications of tools at different voltages between different manufacturers.
Bosch PowerForAll
The Bosch PowerForAll Tool range is a range of tools you can buy knowing that batteries are compatible with all tools in the range providing they are of the same voltage. eg 18v fits 18v, 12v (10.8v) fits 12v (10.8v) etc. Please also note that 10.8v is compatible with 12v & vice versa as it is just a name change. Indego Lawnmowers also use the PowerForAll 18v battery but require a cover plate to be removed if changing.
PowerForAll has many advantages not least the fact that once you have a tool with a few batteries then there is no need to buy the more expensive versions with battery & charger, you can just go ahead & buy the much cheaper no battery versions!
So remember PowerForAll signifies complete battery compatibility throughout the range. There is however, one caveat to this, some of the very first older chargers will not charge the very latest batteries & a battery charger upgrade will be required if you have a first generation charger. All batteries fit all tools however.
As of 2021 Bosch has licensed PowerForAll to other manufacturers whereby batteries between these manufacturers will be interchangeable.
Important
You cannot use Bosch Pro (Blue) batteries in either 12v or 18v DIY (Green) products.

Extra reach allows use without ladders. Performance/efficiency is slightly reduced against the regular trimmer, presumably because of the increased friction over the longer length of the mechanism inside the pole but no comlaints because there's more than enough charge in our 5+ year old batteries to run this around all our hedges and I would imagine it is easily sufficient for most domestic properties' requirements. Excellent.

I have used the product once since it arrived and all is good so far. I already have a normal Bosch cordless hedge trimmer that performs well but need this for some high branches. It was good to find this trimmer with no batteries as I already have batteries with other Bosch tools.

Can not really comment on the performance because I have not yet been able to use it. However I have several Bosch tools which are all excellent and I have no reason to think that this will be any different. Service from Tooled up was excellent, highly recommended company.

Does what it says on the box. A bit unwieldy when fully extended but generally easy to handle. Good run time on battery and useful that it is interchangeable with other tools. Unfortunately the clip on the shoulder strap failed after a few hours use hence 3 stars for build quality.

I have a range of trees and tall shrubs and hedges to trim..the bosch extendable hedge trimmer was a very useful and flexible tool to use. I was able to reach tops and sides of hedges that were very difficult to trim with a lopper and cordless trimmer. The hedges were left neat and I was able to cut quite woody stems although you had to leave in place while the saw action took place instead of the trimming action. I was used to this with my bosh cordless trimmer used to shape small shrubs.. I am a 58 year old 5 ft5 " female and was able to angle lift and walk along the hedge with ease. I found practice helped me get the angles right ..I ordered an extra battery but the first battery lasted me to fill 12 recycling sacks of cuttings and still going strong. Definitely recommend. Service from Tooled up was super quick ordered on the Thurs arrived Saturday morning.. tracking emails and texts kept me informed and up dated on delivery.

Long pole hedge trimmers and long pole saws by their very nature are never going to be an ergonomic delight, this Bosch one is as good as these get. Is well constructed (less floppy/bendy than my Ryobi one). This purchase proved efficient when tidying up a long rough hedge. Good run time with Bosch 'battery for all'

Great product - doesn't go quite as high as I'd like, but then it would be unstable. Like that I can use my existing battery & charger. Points lost on VFM Tooled Up not sending me the can of GT85 that was part of the promo. Also, they haven't replied to my emails.

Been thinking about buying this all last summer but never got round to it. The aim is to save me using the ladder for cutting my privet hedge. I already have the hedge trimmer so knew what to expect and didn’t buy the battery as I already have one and won’t be using hedge and long reach trimmers at the same time. Used it to cut hedge at my mums at the weekend and did as I expected, although might take a bit of time to get used to the strap and rely on it to hold the weight.

A : Bosch are currently advising that we can expect these in again around the start of November but this has not been confirmed yet (and these dates often change at the moment).

A : Hi Barry, the maximum length of 2.6 metres is including the blade yes
Q : I have a bosch hedge strimmer with batteryPBA 18v 2.0ah 36 watt would this be good for this long reach hedgecutter.
A : Hi Michael, as long as it is one of the Power4All (or Power For All) lithium ion batteries, which it sounds like it is from your description, it will be suitable. All of these batteries will work with the UniversalHedgePole, the only difference is the amount of runtime you'll get before you need to recharge. The 2ah batteries are at the lower end of the scale but may be all you need (depending on the amount of hedge that needs trimming).
Q : Which battery is recommended for this trimmer? 2.5ah, 4ah or 6ah.?
A : Hi Jonathan, it really depends how much hedge you need to trim. If you're just neatening up a small hedge in your front garden, the 2.5ah battery might be all you need, but a 6ah battery will let you work continuously for a much longer time without needing to recharge, and would be better suited to larger jobs.
Q : Can I buy a loop handle
A : You may well be able to get a detachable loop handle to fit onto this tool but I'm afraid we don't stock any for sale by themselves.

Q : I have the power 4 all drill with two 1.5ah batteries. Will these be sufficient for this hedge cutter and the long reach mini chain lopper.
A : Hi Gary, the 1.5ah batteries are really best suited to smaller and more intermittent tools like drills and they will work with both of these machines but they won't power them for very long - for typical usage you'd probably want at least the 2.5ah model, although bear in mind that if you have the older style charger with a curved profile some of the bigger batteries won't fit into it
